Villains ranging from the Crime Syndicate to full-blown demons cause chaos in the Fortress of Solitude, with one confirming a major resurrection.
A major Titans villain is resurrected in the pages of Justice League.
A preview for Justice League #71 features a massive battle in the Fortress of Solitude as a result of the Royal Flush Gang’s Jack accidentally opening every dimensional portal door last issue. The Justice League and allies can be seen facing off against villains like members of the Crime Syndicate, who are set to be the focal point of the upcoming War For Earth-3 event, but also big bads who died in the past. One splash page confirms another major DC resurrection following Dark Knights: Death Metal‘s restart of the universe: Trigon.
Trigon is a demonic conqueror who first appeared in New Teen Titans #2 in 1980. He shares a connection to the Titans being that his daughter, Raven, is a member of the team, though she has stood alongside them against her father in comics. This familial conflict has also played out in adapted works as well, including animated series, films and the live-action Titans series on HBO Max, which has been greenlit for a fourth season.
Towards the end of Red Hood and the Outlaws from the Rebirth era of DC Comics, Trigon faced off against Bizarro mono a mano. Their battle ended with a brutal fatality as Bizarro leapt through Trigon’s chest and ripped his heart out, later assuming his throne to keep his subjects in line. The new Infinite Frontier era that has launched has already revived other DC characters, such as Roy Harper aka Arsenal, with Trigon being the latest, as confirmed by the preview.
While Trigon may have been given a new lease on life, the Justice League won’t be so lucky in a few months. It was announced that the team’s ongoing series will conclude with Justice League #75, titled “Death of the Justice League.” The issue promises to kill off nine major heroes, with Leaguers like Batman and Superman possibly on the chopping block.
The upcoming calamity is less than five issues away and will debut in April. The preview and solicitation for Justice League #71, on the other hand, can be found below.
