Marvel UK & Ireland drops eight reminders of why audiences should stay for the post-credits scene of every Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
Marvel UK & Ireland recently reminded audiences why they need to stay for the post-credits scene when watching Marvel Cinematic Universe films in cinemas.
On social media, Marvel posted a series of images capturing the most important moments in the MCU, each one contained in the post-credits scene of a different film. These ranged from Bucky’s awakening in Wakanda, Hope van Dyne’s introduction to the Wasp suit and Thanos’ introduction.
In order, the films included in the post are from Black Panther, whose post-credits scene featured the return of Bucky Barnes; Iron Man, which introduced Nick Fury and the Avengers Initiative; Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were introduced; Avengers, which featured the first appearance of Thanos; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which included a nod to one of the comic book iterations of the titular team; Avengers: Infinity War, which teased Captain Marvel; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 again, teasing Adam Warlock; and finally, Ant-Man, in which Hank Pym showed his daughter Hope the Wasp suit.
These are eight examples of the kind of scenes audiences can expect and how integral they can be when it comes to understanding the projects that follow. As an example, It was Nick Fury’s introduction in Iron Man and Tony Stark’s appearance in The Incredible Hulk that fully established the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the intention to build toward the appearance of the Avengers.
Of course, not all of the MCU films have significant post-credits scenes attached. Fans voiced out their irritation upon the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, whose post-credits scene featured Steve Rogers returning to teach audiences that sometimes waiting is all for nothing. Additionally, the post-credits section of certain films have played host to trailers for upcoming films. The trailer for Avengers was released with Captain America: The First Avenger. Similarly, the first official trailer for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The trailer teased the return of familiar faces, including Scarlet Witch, Mordo and a figure some speculate may be Strange Supreme from What If…?, as well as new superheroes such as America Chavez. There are rumors that the upcoming film will also feature the introduction of Mister Fantastic and Charles Xavier, who may form the superhero team known in the comics as the Illuminati. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding any of these rumors.
