Darkhold: Omega pits Scarlet Witch and twisted heroes against a massive threat while X-Men writer Jonathan Hickman gives his swan song in Inferno #4.
Marvel Comics is about to go full horror with the conclusion of the Darkhold saga, spotlighting Scarlet Witch and other heroes.
Darkhold: Alpha #1 saw the real Darkhold — a mystical book powered by dark magic — unearthed by Doctor Doom, prompting the imminent return of the evil, mystical powerhouse Chthon. After a vision warned Scarlet Witch about Chthon’s return, she assembled five heroes (Iron Man, Blade, Black Bolt, Wasp and Spider-Man) to read from the book and become fueled by its corruptive nature. A series of one-shots explored the twisted realities shown to each hero by the Darkhold, with the battle against Chthon finally arriving in the upcoming Darkhold: Omega #1, which also teases the arrival of a new superhero for the Marvel Universe. However, there is still much more to look for on shelves next week.
Shifting away from the concepts of magic and mysticism to genetics and mutation, Inferno #4 marks the end of an era for the X-Men. Writer Jonathan Hickman, who penned massive moments and events for the main series and related titles like House of X and Powers of X, will be departing X-Men after the current limited series wraps. While the creator has revealed that there were many future project ideas that he had to abandon, including more Rogue content in Inferno, he has previously said that he “had to move on.”
Next week will also debut a new Black, White & Blood series focused on Daredevil‘s Elektra, another entry into the recent Wastelanders one-shots featuring characters from the Old Man Logan universe (like Doctor Doom) and more, which can all be found alphabetically below with their covers and solicitations included.
