Keanu Reeves wants Trinity to jump from The Matrix to John Wick as he says working with Carrie-Anne Moss in a John Wick movie would be ‘awesome.’
Actors Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss recently reunited for The Matrix Resurrections and the pair already have their next collaboration in their sights, this time in the John Wick universe.
Moss confessed her love for the John Wick franchise when asked which of Reeve’s roles was her favorite. In an interview with Reeves for People, she said, “I love John Wick. I really started to understand Keanu’s outrageous gift for telling story through his body. And I didn’t fully understand that until I went deep into John Wick with one of my children.” After thanking Moss for her kind praise, Reeves responded that the idea of Moss in a future John Wick installment “would be awesome.” He also already has a role in mind for her, “You want to play an assassin?” he asked.
Moss wouldn’t be the first of Reeves’ co-stars from The Matrix to appear in John Wick if it were to happen. Laurence Fishburne, who played Morpheus in the original Matrix trilogy, plays The Bowery King in John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
He is also confirmed to return in John Wick 4. “I read the script,” Fishburne said of John Wick 4, shortly before filming started. “It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular… is really the heart and soul of it.”
Any appearance from Moss in the John Wick franchise will have to wait for a few years as filming of John Wick 4 wrapped in October. A video recently released by distributor and franchise owner Lionsgate announced a new release date of March 24, 2023. The movie has been hit by several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was originally scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
Although not officially announced yet, the full title of John Wick 4 appears to be John Wick Chapter 4 – Hagakure. This title was revealed after photos of wrap gifts given to the crew surfaced online. When translated from Japanese, the title loosely means “hidden by the leaves.”
The Matrix Resurrections is now available in cinemas and on HBO Max.
