The Eternals risk “all-out war” with the Avengers in March’s Eternals #10 by Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribić.
Marvel Comics is teasing a war between the gods who walk the Earth and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Esad Ribić, Eternals #10 is slated to hit comic shops this coming March. According to Marvel, the issue sees the Eternals “risk an all-out war with the Avengers.” A battle between the two superhero teams certainly seems inevitable, seeing as how the Eternals plan on entering Avengers Mountain uninvited (though their exact motivations for doing so are unclear).
“Over the last year, writer Kieron Gillen and artist Esad Ribić have revolutionized the Eternals mythology in their acclaimed run on Eternals,” Marvel wrote in its official press release. “Long-hidden truths about the nature of these god-like beings have been revealed, forever changing their role in the Marvel Universe, and this March, the Eternals may have brand-new enemies to contend with — the Avengers!”
An official synopsis for Eternals #10 explains, “The Eternals are on a pilgrimage together. Well, depends on who you ask — for it’s not so much a pilgrimage… and more like breaking and entering into Avengers Mountain. But what the Avengers don’t know won’t hurt them…right?” This unexpected visit apparently doesn’t go over too well, as Ribić’s cover art sees Ikaris of the Eternals locked in a battle of laser eyes with none other than the Avengers’ Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.

The prospect of the Eternals duking it out with the Avengers is sure to be an exciting one for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, thanks to Marvel Studios’ film franchise, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have been a major box office attraction for quite some time now. Meanwhile, the Eternals — a team of living gods originally created by comic book legend Jack Kirby — only recently joined the MCU in the eponymous film Eternals, helmed by Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao. Marvel Studios’ Eternals hit theaters earlier this year on Nov. 5 and has since grossed $400 million worldwide at the box office. The film will be available to stream on Disney+ starting on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022.
