The latest Hawkeye featurette and poster re-introduce Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova as the next Black Widow.

Florence Pugh’s Black Widow assassin Yelena Belova is the focus of both a new featurette and purple-hued character poster released ahead of the final episode of Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye series.

The minute-and-a-half-long featurette posted on Marvel’s YouTube channel is titled “Yelena’s Back” and re-introduces Natasha Romanoff’s little sister with footage of the character’s bombastic fight scene in Episode 5 (“Ronin”) of Hawkeye. The clip also includes interviews with Pugh and her co-star Hailee Steinfeld, as well as commentary from series directors Rhys Thomas and Bert & Bertie.

“When we finished Black Widow, my whole experience was with Scarlett [Johansson], and she really welcomed me into the [Marvel Cinematic Universe],” Pugh says at one point in the clip. “And then to jump into her scene partner’s world was just as sweet. It’s been a really good first two years in the MCU.”

Katie Ellwood — Bertie of directing duo Bert & Bertie — adds, “To see Natasha Romanoff’s sister sitting [and] talking to Clint Barton’s protege — we just sat back and really enjoyed it.”

In addition to including actual footage of the fight between Belova, Barton and Kate Bishop, the featurette gives fans a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes footage of Pugh and Jeremy Renner working on their fight scenes on set. Meanwhile, the new character poster depicts Yelena standing in front of a purple bullseye and a spiral of multicolored Christmas lights.

In Marvel Comics, Belova made her debut in 1999’s Inhumans #5 as even more of a rival to Romanoff, who eventually works her way through many different organizations as an espionage agent. The character was introduced in the MCU in Black Widow as Romanoff’s adopted sister and fellow Red Room-trained assassin.

Ellwood’s directing partner Amber Templemore-Finlayson (Bert), also recently shared some insight about Belova’s arrival on Hawkeye, explaining, “Obviously, it was like, how long can we delay the reveal of Yelena? That was very important to us. You know this is a Widow, but the big reveal that it’s Yelena is so satisfying.”

Hawkeye is the fifth streaming series from Marvel released on Disney+, following WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and What If…? The latest series takes place in New York City following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and finds Clint Barton dealing with the fallout of his run as vigilante Ronin while also attempting to get back to his family in time for Christmas.

Following her arrival in Episode 5, Belova is expected to play a major role in the series finale of Hawkeye, which premieres this Wednesday on Disney+. Episodes 1-5 are streaming now.
