Japan’s best-selling manga follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who travels the seven seas to seek the world’s ultimate treasure, the One Piece, and become the next Pirate King. After eating the Gum-Gum Fruit, Luffy’s body became like rubber, giving him the ability to stretch and manipulate it at will.
The Naruto universe is full of powerful ninjas that possess a diverse set of skills and abilities. While Luffy has defeated his fair share of mighty warriors in the One Piece series, there are plenty of ninjas in Naruto that would prove too much for the future Pirate King to handle. With that said, there are some ninjas Luffy would beat in a one-on-one fight.
10 Can Beat: Luffy Could Run Circles Around Konan
Konan is undoubtedly a very powerful shinobi. She was trained by Jiraiya, one of the three legendary Sanin, and is one of the few characters that can contend with Obito Uchiha, one of the strongest ninjas of the Akatsuki. Her ninjutsu allows her to control, shape, create, or even turn paper into explosives.
Unfortunately for Konan, her attacks are too slow to tag Luffy, especially when factoring in the Straw Hat’s Observation Haki, which lets him see into the future. Even if Konan did land a hit, Luffy’s rubber body has withstood explosions and punishment more powerful than Konan’s, making it unlikely she can do any damage to him.
9 Can’t Beat: Luffy Has Nothing To Counter Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke is arguably one of the strongest rivals Naruto has ever faced. Aside from his incredible hand-to-hand prowess, Sasuke is a great strategist capable of creating complex battle strategies on the fly, making it very likely he can outsmart Luffy.
Sasuke possesses the Rinnegan, an eye that allows him to use Chibaku Tensei, a move he uses to trap and incapacitate nine Tailed Beasts more powerful than Luffy with a clap of his hands. He can also use Genjutsu to trap Luffy in an illusion or use Human Path to rip out his soul. Luffy would have no defense against most of Sasuke’s techniques.
8 Can Beat: Tsunade Is Strong, But Not Strong Enough To Beat Luffy
Granddaughter of the first Hokage Hashirama Senju, Tsunade Senju is one of Konoha’s legendary Sannin, three renowned ninjas hailed as the greatest of their time. Tsunade is celebrated for her overwhelming strength. She is so strong that she once cracked the ribs of Madara’s Susanoo, one of the strongest armors in the Naruto universe.
While Tsunade is a powerful fighter, Luffy’s gears would let him match her in strength, and his Observation Haki would let him dodge any punch she throws his way. Luffy’s rubber body is also resistant to blunt force trauma, meaning there’s not much Tsunade can do that would hurt Luffy.
7 Can’t Beat: Luffy Couldn’t Take Many Punches From Sakura Haruno
Fans may see Sakura Haruno as one of the weaker shinobi of the Naruto universe, but she’s proven over the years that she is a fearsome warrior that few can match in physical prowess. Not only is she strong enough to injure Kaguya, the strongest Naruto: Shippuden villain, but she is stated in Boruto databooks to be relative to Naruto and Sasuke in power.
Luffy’s body is resistant to blunt force trauma, but it’s not immune, as shown when Kaido and Rob Lucci harmed him with their punches. Since Sakura is currently stronger than anyone in One Piece, there’s little reason to believe her punches wouldn’t do the same damage.
6 Can Beat: Jiraiya Can’t Summon Anything Luffy Couldn’t Handle
Trained by the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Jiraiya made a name for himself as one of the legendary three Sanin during the Second Great Ninja War. In his later years, he would train Naruto into becoming a better shinobi. His ninjutsu allows him to create clones, spit fireballs, turn others into frogs, and summon giant toads from thin air.
Jiraiya can use his summons to outnumber Luffy, but Luffy’s Haoshoku Haki can knock out large groups of people in seconds, making Jiraiya’s summons moot. Luffy has consistently held his own against enemies bigger and more powerful than Jiraiya and his summons, meaning he should have no issue taking on whatever Jiraiya throws at him.
5 Can’t Beat: Madara Uchiha Has The Pefect Techniques To Defeat Luffy
There is a reason fans consider Madara to be a god amongst shinobi. Once he obtained the power of the Rinnegan and Ten-Tailed Beasts, Madara became an unstoppable force few could fight. He was so powerful that even Naruto author Masashi Kishimoto admitted he didn’t know how he was going to have Madara defeated.
With the Rinnegan, Madara can use the Human Path to rip out Luffy’s soul or trap him inside of a worldwide illusion. As Juubi Madara, he can use the Truth Seeking Orbs, which destroys what they touch on a molecular level, making it the perfect weapon to destroy Luffy’s rubber body.
4 Can Beat: Luffy Has Beaten Opponents Like Kisame Before
Before joining the Akatsuki, Kisame Hoshigaki was originally one of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist. His ninjutsu lets him create and manipulate water to his will. He can create shark-like water projectiles or drown his enemies in water spheres if he chooses to.
Although Kisame is regarded as one of the Akatsuki’s stronger members, Luffy’s Gear Fourth would let him match Kisame’s strength. And while it is true that Kisame’s water jutsu would expose Luffy’s weakness to water, he would have to submerge half of Luffy’s body in water to do that, and Luffy is too fast for Kisame to catch. Not to mention, Luffy defeated Hody Jones, who’s similar to Kisame.
3 Can’t Beat: Kaguya Otsutsuki’s Control Of Chakra Would Be Too Much For Luffy
When the celestial alien, Kaguya Otsutsuki, consumed the fruit of the God Tree, she became the first character in Naruto history to control chakra. Not only does she possess one of the largest chakra reserves in the whole series, but she is also in possession of every ninjutsu ever seen.
Kaguya possesses the Rinne Sharingan, an eye that allows her to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a worldwide genjutsu Luffy can’t escape. She could also use her Ash-Killing Ash Bones to turn Luffy’s rubber body into a pile of ash.
2 Can Beat: Luffy Would Outlast Might Guy In A Fight
Might Guy is one of the few ninjas to prove that ninjutsu alone does not determine a ninja’s worth. While he is incapable of performing ninjutsu techniques, Guy is easily one of Konoha’s strongest and respected shinobi of the village. By opening his eight inner gates, Guy can boost his strength to superhuman levels. By opening all eight of his gates at once, he becomes powerful enough to rival Juubi Madara, one of the strongest enemies in the Naruto series.
While Eight Gates Guy is powerful enough to decimate Luffy, he can only maintain this power for a brief time before it turns his body into ash. With his superior speed and Observation Haki, Luffy can stall Guy out long enough until he hits his limit.
1 Can’t Beat: Naruto Uzumaki Has Too Many Skills For Luffy To Handle
Both Naruto and Luffy are very determined fighters that will stop at nothing to defeat their enemies and achieve their ultimate goals. While Luffy is a strong fighter in his own right, his strength is nowhere near the level needed to put Naruto down in a fight.
Naruto’s ability to create shadow clones gives him many ways of outnumbering Luffy, and his Bijuu Bombs would wipe both Luffy and the country they’re fighting in off the map. Like Sasuke, Naruto is a great strategist capable of creating complex battle strategies on the fly, making it very likely he can outsmart Luffy.
