Mika Abdalla is set to join the cast of The Flash, playing a longtime member of the futuristic team the Legion of Super-Heroes.
A new hero from DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes is set to join the Arrowverse as part of the cast of The Flash.
According to The Wrap, actor Mika Abdalla will play the role of Tinya Wazzo on the series. She is described as “a reluctant meta-teenager” who, after years of successfully hiding in plain sight, finds her life “is turned upside down when she becomes the subject of Iris West-Allen’s latest investigation for CC Citizen Media.” Tinya soon finds herself “thrust into a dangerous world she never knew existed—one that will change her life forever.” Abdalla previously starred in the kid’s spy series Project Mc2 on Netflix.
DC fans will recognize Tinya Wazzo as a longtime member of the 31st century’s greatest protectors, the Legion of Super-Heroes. Going by the codenames Phantom Girl, Phase or Apparition, Tinya is an alien from the planet Bgtzl and has the power to pass through solid objects. Given that the description doesn’t indicate The Flash‘s version of Tinya hails from the far-flung future, its version may have more in common with the second Phantom Girl: Linnya Wazzo, Tinya’s modern-day ancestor who has her same powers and became a member of the team of super-explorers The Terrifics.
This isn’t the first time members of the Legion have appeared in the Arrowverse. On Supergirl, the hero Mon-El traveled to the future and helped establish the Legion there, marrying his fellow hero Saturn Girl. Another member, Brainiac 5, relocated to the 21st Century and became a regular member of the Super-Friends and became romantically involved with Nia Nal, the ancestor of the LSH member Dream Girl and a hero in her own right as Dreamer. Additionally, it has been mentioned that sometime in the future, the Flash’s daughter Nora West-Allen/XS will be recruited into the Legion.
Currently, the cast of The Flash are busy with the “Armageddon” storyline, which will conclude with “Part 5” on Dec. 15. While details are still scarce on storylines after the crossover event, it has been confirmed that Season 8 will see the return of multiple familiar faces to Central City, including John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick/the Flash of Earth-2, Rick Cosnett as Iris’s late ex-boyfriend Detective Eddie Thawne and Robbie Amell as Caitlyn Snow’s late husband and the original Firestorm Ronnie Raymond.
New episodes of The Flash air Tuesday nights on The CW, although the show will shift to airing on Wednesdays following its mid-season finale in 2022.
