Catch the legendary bounty hunter in action as Star Wars drops another action-packed trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett has received yet another action-packed trailer as the legendary bounty hunter’s standalone series closes in on its Dec. 29 premiere.
A new minute-long promo titled “The Return” highlights Boba Fett’s return to the planet of Tatooine and its criminal underworld. Most of the footage shown is recycled from previous trailers, though a glimpse into Boba’s recovery from the sarlacc pit is shown via shots of what seems to be an accelerated healing tank. Alongside Temuera Morrison reprising his role as the titular Boba Fett, the trailer also heavily features mercenary Fennec Shand, played by Ming-Na Wen, who appears to be one of the few bounty hunters Boba can trust in their bloodthirsty line of work.
“The Return” is one of several trailers and promos for the series released in recent weeks, with the “Message” trailer showing off more of the bacta healing tank, suggesting the show might include flashbacks to Boba’s escape from the sarlacc. A separate promo, meanwhile, offered a look at what’s in store for Boba as he seeks to solidify his position as the new ruler of Jabba’s Palace. What’s more, the “Reign” trailer offered plenty of details for keen-eyed fans to uncover, including one shot of what seems to be the hanger in Jabba’s Palace appearing almost identical to a map from DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront reboot.
As teased by the appearance of the galaxy’s most infamous bounty hunter following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett is a spinoff series set after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The show centers around Boba Fett and Fennec Shand as they attempt to seize the power vacuum in the galaxy’s underworld left behind by the death of the ruthless crime lord, Jabba the Hutt. Featuring directorial work from Robert Rodriguez, Jon Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dave Filoni and more, the series will consist of seven episodes released weekly.
Exploring the bounty hunter’s backstory and answering major questions surrounding his survival after Return of the Jedi will be an important part of the series. “There will definitely be a number of answers,” Morrison said during an interview earlier this month. “Some long-winded answers. Some short and sharp answers. Some colorful answers. We’re filling a lot of gaps.” The series also doesn’t plan to shy away from Boba and Fennec’s questionable morality, with Wen saying in a separate recent interview, “We are the anti-hero,” adding that although both the characters aren’t “bad guys,” they’re also “not that good either.”
The Book of Boba Fett begins streaming Dec. 29 on Disney+.
