An international TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home features new footage showcasing the Marvel Cinematic Universe literally ripping apart.

An international TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home includes a bit of new footage, showing the Marvel Cinematic Universe literally being ripped apart.

The Korean TV spot begins with familiar clips from previous trailers, bringing viewers all their favorite characters, including Doctor Strange, MJ, Ned and, of course, Spider-Man. Among the many shots of the Mirror Dimension cracking and shattering is a brief shot of a seemingly magical force tearing the fabric of reality apart.

Whether or not audiences can trust what they see in the film’s trailers remains to be seen. On top of the fact that certain trailers and TV spots for Spider-Man: No Way Home have shown signs of significant edits, possibly to remove certain characters, Sony and Marvel Studios have reportedly gone so far as to hide certain sections of the film from press screenings in order to maintain some of the highly-anticipated film’s secrets. However, this could be due to the simple fact that some of the film’s VFX work is not yet complete, according to recent reports.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to combine three separate franchises with the inclusion of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Sandman from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, as well as Jamie Foxx’s Electro and the Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man films. Thanks to reportedly leaked set photos and footage, audiences speculate that former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will also return, reprising their roles as their respective Peter Parkers. However, Garfield has consistently denied his involvement in the film.

While plot details are unsurprisingly scarce, star Tom Holland recently revealed how the film will begin. Speaking to Graham Norton, the actor explained, “What’s cool about this film is it picks up right after the second one finishes… So the second one finishes with a freeze-frame of Spider-Man, the third one starts with the same freeze-frame.” From there, as the trailers suggest, Doctor Strange will attempt to return Spider-Man’s secret identity to secrecy.

Due to the high demand, pre-sale ticket sales for Spider-Man: No Way Home caused numerous ticketing websites to crash. Sales for the film were the second highest in U.S history, bested only by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. It is currently estimated that Spider-Man: No Way Home will surpass $100 million in its opening weekend, the first to do so in the pandemic era.
