MGM Has Now Begun the Search for Their Next ‘James Bond’

[ad_1]

With the release of No Time to Die, we have seen the end of Daniel Craig’s run as James Bond, and now fans of the renowned spy have been left wondering ‘what’s next?’ for 007. MGM President of Motion Pictures Pamela Abdy has disclosed that the search for the next actor to don the coveted tux is currently begun, and that work on the next Bond film is still in its early stages.

“It’s wide open. We’ve had very early preliminary conversations with Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [Wilson], but we wanted Daniel to have his last hurrah.”

Barbara Broccoli had previously claimed that the studio will not begin looking for a replacement for Daniel Craig until 2022, saying that they would begin thinking about the future “next year.” But according to Abdy, the search for the next James Bond has already begun. Maybe something has certainly shifted behind the scenes. Maybe they were all too ecstatic to wait.

So, after Daniel Craig’s highly successful final outing, who could the studio be looking at to step up and lead the franchise? For a long time, ecstatic fans have been expressing their ideal Bond actor, with Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and, most recently, Eternals star Richard Madden and Bridgerton‘s Regé-Jean Page frequently leading the fan-casting list.

Daniel Craig recently offered some solid advice to whoever is chosen to take over, “Don’t f-ck it up.”  Hopefully that means that there’s no way in hell they will take Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson seriously on his offer to take the role, no matter what his pedigree is.

“It’s been incredible to do these films,” Craig said back in September. “It’s very emotional. I’m glad I am ending it on my own terms. I’m grateful to the producers for letting me do that. But I sure miss it. I’ll probably be incredibly bitter when the new person takes over.”

No Time to Die is now the highest grossing film of the pandemic era. It may still end up losing money.
