At a special screening of Netflix’s Red Notice, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, gifted his own personal custom pickup truck to a grateful fan.
Red Notice‘s Dwayne Johnson gave away his personal custom pickup truck to a lucky fan at a special screening for the film.
Johnson recently invited a select group of fans to a free screening of Netflix’s Red Notice in California. In addition to providing complimentary concessions and other goodies for everyone in attendance, Johnson decided to single out one person — Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez — for an extra-special surprise. Johnson posted a series of images and a video depicting the moments leading up to Rodriguez accepting the truck and his overwhelmed reaction to the act of kindness.
He deserves a lot more than my personal truck.
Kindness matters to me, so thanks @ORodri240 for being so kind to so many people.
You said it right, just before you drove away ~ it’s just love.
That’s all it is, brother.
Just love.Enjoy your new truck dude 🛻👊🏾

In the video, Johnson arrives at the screening to cheers and applause from fans. He then calls Rodriguez to the front of the theater and speaks to the crowd, touching on Rodriguez’s character. “Your story really moved me,” Johnson says in the video. “You’re a leader in your church . . . you support and you help make meals for women victims who’ve been abused by domestic violence — that’s really amazing work.” Johnson then leads Rodriguez outside to the parking lot, where the truck is waiting. When Rodriguez realizes he’s being gifted the truck, he collapses in shock before bear-hugging Johnson and breaking down in tears.
Johnson’s Instagram post praised Rodriguez for his acts of kindness and taking care of his community. “I always say it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. And Oscar, exemplifies being nice and kind to his core.” Johnson wrote. “It’s the little things like this, that I get the greatest joy out of. But most importantly, I have the global platform to illuminate good, solid, grateful human beings, like Oscar. The kind we could always use more of.”
Johnson has made a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s most charitable stars. He partnered with Microsoft last year to gift new Xbox consoles and other equipment to 20 different children’s hospitals. In 2006, he founded the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, which provides programs for children with disabilities to help build their self-esteem. The foundation also offers nutrition and fitness education to underprivileged kids. Earlier this month, it was also revealed that Johnson personally paid his stunt double Tanoai Reed’s salary on Gridiron Gang back in the mid-2000s. “[Johnson] told me, ‘You’re more than just a stunt double, you’re like family,'” Reed said.
When Johnson isn’t surprising his fans on Hollywood bus tours, he’s filming such blockbusters as the DC Extended Universe’s Black Adam (due out July 2022) and the sequel to Disney’s Jungle Cruise alongside costar Emily Blunt. Red Notice, also starring Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, is available to stream now on Netflix.
