Pokémon Diamond & Pearl were the first two games of the franchise’s fourth generation. Like the three before it, they are getting remakes. While newcomers that weren’t able to play the original titles will finally be able to experience them, hardcore fans will be able to play a couple of their favorite games again.

There are a lot of things that players will want to know about these upcoming installments, especially if they didn’t get to play the old DS games or forgot a lot about them.

7 They Are Being Developed By ILCA

Game Freak has been the developers of the main Pokémon games since the franchise first started. When fans found out that they weren’t developing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, working on Pokémon Legends: Arceus instead, they were shocked.

Instead, the remakes to Diamond & Pearl are being made by ILCA, who previously worked on other RPGs, such as NieR: Automata and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. They also worked on Pokémon‘s cloud service, Pokémon Home.

6 They Take Place In Sinnoh

Each generation of Pokémon games takes place in a different region in the series’ universe. The original games were set in Kanto, followed by Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar.

Like the original fourth generation titles, the remakes will take place in Sinnoh, which is based on Hokkaido, an island in Japan. Players will surely have a great time visiting some of the coolest places in the world of Pokémon.

5 Chimchar, Turtwig, & Piplup Are The Three Starters

Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup were Diamond & Pearl’s three starters, and players will be able to choose one of the three as their first Pokémon in the remakes.

Chimchar is a fire-type monkey that evolves into Monferno, followed by Infernape. Turtwig is a grass-type turtle that evolves into Grotle, followed by Torterra. Piplup is a water-type penguin that evolves into Prinplup, followed by Empoleon. No matter which Pokémon players choose, these three are some of the best starters in the entire franchise.

4 Players Can Have Their Own Base

In the game, players will be able to go to the Grand Underground, which is underneath Sinnoh. The Grand Underground is replacing Pokémon Diamond & Pearl‘s Underground, making a lot of changes, such as being able to play with others online and having a base.

On top of that, in the Grand Underground, players can put statues based on Pokémon in their base, which will affect what Pokémon are in there. They will also only be able to catch some Pokémon when going to the Grand Underground, giving them more reasons to do so.

3 Players Can Change Clothes

In the original Diamond & Pearl, the playable characters always wore the same outfit, which is common in many Pokémon games. This time around, however, they will be able to switch their clothes at certain buildings.

These outfits include the Eevee Jacket Style, the Winter Style, the Leather Jacket Style, the Gengar Jacket Style, and the Cyber Style.

2 Players Can Battle & Trade Pokémon In The Union Room

Being able to battle and trade with other players is something that has always been a huge part of the Pokémon games and it’s become much easier over the years.

In the beginning, they would have to use a Game Link Cable, but in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, they can trade and battle with people all around the world by going to the Union Room.

Pokémon Diamond & Pearl were released back in 2006 in Japan, and came to the United States a year later. As with other remakes to the Pokémon titles, it has been a long time since the original versions of them came out. Pokémon Red & Green came out in 1996, with FireRed & LeafGreen releasing in 2004, eight years after the originals.

Pokémon Gold & Silver came out in 1999, with HeartGold & SoulSilver releasing ten years later, in 2009. Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire came out in 2002, with their remakes, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire releasing twelve years later, in 2014. And now, fifteen years after the original fourth generation installments, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are finally coming out November 19th, just a few days away.
