Miles Morales Preview Reveals a Different Look for Taskmaster

Marvel Comics presents an exclusive preview of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #32, by Saladin Ahmed, Christopher Allen, Guru-eFX and VC’s Cory Petit.

Marvel Comics has given CBR an exclusive preview of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #32, by Saladin Ahmed, Christopher Allen, Guru-eFX and VC’s Cory Petit. In the issue, Anthony Masters/Taskmaster sports a slightly altered look, as the art reveals just how he appears without his hood and cape.

In Miles Morales: Spider-Man #31, Tiana Toomes/Starling and Miles had a romantic encounter that ended with Taskmaster attacking them. At the end of the fight, Taskmaster escaped with Starling. During his escape, Taskmaster managed to injure Miles.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #32 picks up after that confrontation. The book opens with Tiana thinking about the first time she used the wings that her grandfather — Adrian Toomes/Vulture — made for her, using the memory to help her while she’s restrained in Taskmaster’s base. It’s here we get a look at Taskmaster without his cape and hood, looking like classic Iron Man villains the Brothers Grimm or the Hellfire Club’s soldiers from X-Men.

Starling soon asks Taskmaster why he hasn’t just killed her, and he explains his goals: “Client’s very particular. Wants you alive. Wearin’ your wings. Delivered at a precise time. And thanks to the trouble you and your boyfriend gave me, we’re already running behind.” Despite being asked, Taskmaster does not reveal who hired him.

The comic then flashes back to Miles, who tries going after the duo. However, due to the injury he sustained, Miles plummets to the ground. At the end of the preview, it’s clear that Miles is down for the count, and that could prove disastrous for Tiana.
