An exclusive preview of December’s Fire Power #18 by Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee showcases a fiery showdown and major turning point.

Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee’s post-modern martial arts epic Fire Power is about to hit an explosive turning point in December’s Issue #18, with Skybound Entertainment sharing an exclusive preview of the issue’s fiery showdown.

As series protagonist Owen Johnson leads his family back to the Temple of the Flaming Fist, the Shaolin Temple in the mountains where he learned a variety of mythical martial arts, he finds the snowbound temple in ruins. And with those awaiting them at the burning temple appearing to be in the thrall of the rival Serpent’s Omen, controlling their pawns through venomous viper bites, the unhappy return is punctuated by a devastating explosive blast. CBR has an exclusive unlettered preview from Fire Power #18, written by Kirkman, illustrated by Samnee, colored by Matt Wilson, with letters by Rus Wooton along with the standard cover and advance solicitation information from Image Comics.

  • The unthinkable has happened. The world has changed…for the Johnson family, for the Temple of the Flaming Fist, for the Scorched Earth Clan, for everyone on Earth. This will be a major turning point for the series. You have been warned.

Fire Power was launched in July 2020 by Skybound Entertainment — Kirkman’s publishing imprint and entertainment company — to widespread critical acclaim. The first three story arcs are available now as trade paperbacks, with a fourth collection coming in April 2022.

Kirkman and Samnee’s story follows a young man named Owen Johnson who, after becoming the first person in a millennium to master the power of the Flaming Fist, leaves his martial arts destiny behind to start a family in St. Louis. Over the course of the series, Owen finds his past has come roaring back for him, putting his family directly in harm’s way. Rival martial arts clans, each with their own deadly fighting styles, have emerged to draw Owen back into their violent world. And with the Temple of the Flaming Fist devastated and its inhabitants converted into something dark and dangerous, no place on Earth is safe for the Johnson family as they find themselves back on the defensive.

Fire Power #18 by Robert Kirkman, Chris Samnee, Matt Wilson and Rus Wooton goes on sale Dec. 1 from Skybound and Image Comics.
