At the end of Lost Judgment Chapter 6, protagonist Takayuki Yagami arrived at the apartment of Yoko Sawa to question her more about the death of Hiro Mikoshiba and her connection to Kurokawa Academy. However, just as he got outside her door, he encountered Jin Kuwana, Isezaki Ijincho’s underground handyman. While the connection between the two isn’t made clear in Chapter 6, the events of Chapter 7 certainly show there’s more to both characters than meets the eye.
In the process, Lost Judgment Chapter 7 features some big battles and a shocking death. Here’s a guide to getting through this part of the game.
How to Beat Akutsu Outside Sawa-Sensei’s Apartment
Prior to starting Chapter 7, players should definitely have made a point to stock up on healing items and return Yagami to full health. Otherwise, this is going to get very difficult. As the chapter starts, Yagami and Kuwana start talking, but they’re interrupted by Daimu Akutsu and a bunch of RK members. Their target becomes clear: Kuwana.
Akutsu hits hard, so focus on taking out the weaker enemies first using crane style. Yagami can easily bounce off the wall and deliver various kicks and EX Actions to do a lot of damage. Once the general RK members are down, switch to Tiger and start delivering combos with charged shots at the end to Akutsu. Eventually, he’ll go down, though watch out for his deadly attacks and make sure to use Mortal Reversals on them. Although he hits hard, Akutsu is also pretty slow, so it’s not hard to see his attacks coming, which makes them easy to dodge and block.
Kuwana runs away, leaving Yagami to face another group of RK members alone. Akutsu isn’t with them, so they’re really not that difficult to take down overall. Use Crane or Snake on the weaker enemies, and they should go down sooner rather than later. Switch to Tiger to take out Chiba, who has a much longer health bar, though his attacks are nowhere near as brutal as Akutsu’s.
Once they’re down, start walking in the direction that Kuwana left. Another group of RK members attack Yagami. Use Snake to take away their weapons and then take them out. Be cautious about the guy with a sledgehammer, as he can do a lot of damage if not properly contained.
Continue down the stairs, and Yagami will face another group of RK members who jump from a nearby walkway. They’re all pretty weak, so a few Crane rush combos will take them out quickly.
Once the cutscene ends, head back to the stairs to reunite with Kuwana and Akutsu. Use Crane to thin out the weaker enemies and leave Akutsu for last, using Tiger to take him down with ease. This is pretty much the same fight as before. Eventually, Kuwana runs away and Akutsu gets some reinforcements. Before landing the final blow on Akutsu, heal up, as there’s going to be another fight.
How to Beat the Akutsu Chainsaw Fight
After revealing Kazuki Soma has captured Sawa-sensei, Akutsu gets the drop on Yagami and knocks him out. They drag him to a warehouse somewhere in Isezaki Ijincho and interrogate him, taking away his phone in the process. Soma eventually reveals he wants Kuwana, indicating that isn’t his real name. When he learns Yagami doesn’t have any information, Soma gives Akutsu permission to execute Yagami. A beating commences, and Akutsu prepares to cut Yagami down with a chainsaw. However, Masaharu Kaito and Fumiya Sugiura show up just in time to let Yagami get free.
Once the fight begins, switch to Crane style and thin out the weaker enemies. Keep far away from Akutsu, as his chainsaw does a ton of damage. Switch to Snake to disarm enemies where necessary, but due to the sheer volume of RK members this can be a bit hard. Although Yagami can’t heal because his phone is gone, there are health pick-ups littered around the stage. Keep Yagami’s health high and fight cautiously.
After the weaker RK members are down, focus on Akutsu. Snake and Crane are good for dodging his chainsaw, especially since Akutsu swings it slowly. Towards the end of his first health bar, there’s a quick-time event that involves mashing one button (triangle on the PlayStation 5). Completing this takes away Akutsu’s chainsaw. Switch to Tiger and start unleashing combos with charged hits on Akutsu. He’ll go down pretty easily from here.
Akutsu escapes Yagami, proving himself incredibly hard to take down for good. After the cutscene, Yagami ends up back outside Sawa-sensei’s apartment, and the detective learns Makoto Tsukumo used his GPS and cameras to figure out his location. Yagami then calls Saori Shirosaki, who reveals what she learned about Shinya Kawai’s apparent death.
Head back up to Sawa-sensei’s apartment with Sugiura and Kaito to trigger a cutscene in which the trio discover her dead. And with that, the action-packed Chapter 7 ends by giving Yagami a deeply personal reason to investigate Mikoshiba’s murder.
