Huh? Sophia Di Martino Insists She is NOT Lady Loki

One of the big rumors going into the Loki series was that Sophia Di Martino was going to be playing Lady Loki, an interesting character from the comics that happened when all of the Asgardians were killed and then reincarnated into new bodies. Loki ended up in a body meant for Sif and it went from there. But Loki has always had the ability to shift his appearance or his gender so Lady Loki could’ve happened at any time. Well, according to Di Martino speaking to Variety, this is definitely not the Lady Loki from the comics.

When asked about how much she looked at Tom Hiddleston’s performance: “I looked at his performance, but I try not to be shaped by it too much. Sylvie has had a very different backstory to Loki. She’s a different person, and that was really important to us right from the beginning.” She talked about what Kate Herron told her after she got the job, “When… she was able to tell me a bit more about it, it was very clear that Sylvie was Sylvie. And she’s not Lady Loki from the comics. I mean, the show is inspired by the comics, but this is a brand new backstory in a brand new story. And so I wanted to make her my own.”

I’m not as much of a “CoMiCs NeEd MoAr DiVeRsItY & iNcLuSiOn” advocate as my girlfriend often is, but we both love funny books, crispy bacon, straight bourbon and hip hop. Add yet, we never vote the same, so we cancel each other out… and that works perfectly in my book!
