In one episode of A.P. Bio, Helen was helping Jack and accidentally went on a rampage that resulted in the complete destruction of a model town.
A.P. Bio’s Whitlock High School would be nothing without Helen Henry Demarcus. As the school administrator, she is the right hand of Principal Ralph Durbin and the person with the most school spirit, by far. But when she decided to jump into Jack Griffin’s A.P. Bio class, Helen bit off more than she could chew when she helped him on a revenge mission and accidentally went Godzilla on a full tiny town.
Helen is a bit of an enigma wrapped in a super cheery wrapper that has little or no filter. She says pretty much whatever is on her mind without thinking about it in the least. On the upside, Helen usually does it with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. That’s largely why it took Jack two seasons of the series to warm up to her. He brings new meaning to the idea of being curmudgeonly, so he, of course, didn’t respond well to Helen.
In Season 2, Episode 13, Helen was in the process of trying to better herself by applying to college. Unfortunately, being accepted to college usually requires having graduated high school, something Helen did not do. As such, she decided to enroll at Whitlock High School, starting with A.P. Bio. This did not go over well in the closing moments of that episode, as Jack watched Helen take her seat in the class.
This was a terrible situation for Jack for two reasons. Since he wasn’t Helen’s biggest fan, the prospect of having to deal with her on such a one-on-one level did not appeal to him in the least. But the bigger problem was that having Helen in the class meant that she would be aware he wasn’t teaching any biology whatsoever and was using the class as his own private revenge squad on anyone who wronged him.
That certainly came up in Season 3, Episode 1 when Jack ordered a new popcorn maker online. He didn’t pay attention to the dimensions and ended up with a miniature version. The seller would not return his money, so Jack went into revenge mode, though he did have second thoughts. To her credit, Helen actually agreed to help Jack and the two went to the store to stop the glitter bomb he’d planted from going off. That’s when everything went south.
The store had several miniature model buildings in it. Helen tripped and lost her footing, stumbling and flailing around the store until almost everything was annihilated. On the upside, the glitter bomb didn’t go off. On the downside, there was basically nothing left after Helen’s rampage, other than kindling. It was like watching Godzilla tear apart a city, except for the fact that Godzilla isn’t usually upset about the situation. He just does what he does.
Naturally, Helen and Jack made a break for it, leaving the store owner to find the mess the next day. But the one positive to come out of all of this was a much closer bond between Helen and Jack. She might have left his class to help Durbin by the end of the episode, but Jack did agree to help her graduate from high school. Apparently, wanton destruction is the cornerstone of a good friendship.
