[ad_1]

In a sneak peek at Lucifer Season 6’s animated episode, the Devil learns the harsh truth of what happens to alcohol in the cartoon world.

In a clip from Lucifer Season 6’s animated episode, DC’s Devil makes the unfortunate discovery that as long as he’s a cartoon, he won’t be able to enjoy his favorite adult beverage.

In preparation for Lucifer‘s sixth and final season, the official Netflix Geeked Twitter account shared a compilation video featuring some of the supernatural crime drama’s most memorable moments, with the promise of a sneak peek at a new one for those who stick around to the end. The clip in question sees an animated Lucifer (Tom Ellis) take a drink from his hip flask, only to discover that his whiskey has been replaced with apple juice.

Worse yet, the Devil can’t even swear while in the cartoon world. “Apple juice? Well, this place can go **** itself,” Lucifer says after spitting out the drink. “******* apple juice instead of whiskey. Even if it’s a cartoon it should have ******* whiskey.”

In the official trailer for Lucifer Season 6, it was revealed that one episode in the season would involve Lucifer and Chloe Decker (Lauren German) becoming cartoon characters. This peculiar chapter in the Devil’s story, titled “Yabba Dabba Do Me,” will serve as the third of Lucifer Season 6’s 10 episodes.

In a recent interview, Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson explained how he had always wanted to do an animated episode of the show, but never thought such a thing would actually come to pass. However, the opportunity finally presented itself as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as the crew was looking for creative ways to spend fewer days on set.

During that same interview, Henderson also revealed that “Yabba Dabba Do Me” actually enlisted the aid of the animation crew behind HBO Max’s Harley Quinn. “We got super lucky, because we had this just incredibly lucky window of time where you have these animators who can just bring so much humanity to cartoons,” he said of the team’s involvement. “And so it was just this wonderful confluence.”

Based on the DC/Vertigo Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer originally aired on Fox for three seasons. After being canceled by the network, the show was revived by Netflix for a fourth season, with the streamer subsequently ordering a fifth. Lucifer Season 5 was originally announced as the show’s last, though it was ultimately renewed for Season 6, which will serve as the true conclusion.

The sixth and final season of Lucifer premieres Sept. 10 on Netflix.
