Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun! Season 2 So Far

[ad_1]

This season took its sweet time in getting around to addressing the major plot point they left hanging at the end of the first season. In the post-credits scene of the first season of Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!, we are presented with a purple-haired Iruma seemingly going through some kind of rebellious phase. The truth is that as Iruma levels up at school, his demonic power increases, enabling Iruma to access greater amounts of Sullivan’s power locked up in the mysterious ring handed to him. The power in the ring gains sentience and the ability to manifest itself and communicate with Iruma after he achieves Gimel (3) rank.

The manifested power, now known as Alicred, has a bit of a mischievous side, and he casts a spell on Iruma which causes him to have a bolder, more confident, but more abrasive personality. Other characters rationalize Iruma’s more ambitious, more powerful presence as symptoms of his Evil Cycle, a phase that all demons experience as a result of suppressing their evil, destructive instincts for long periods of time.

During an Evil Cycle, a demon will have their quintessential demonic traits heightened, such as ambition, selfishness, and rebelliousness. This is especially true of Iruma, who, in his “Evil Cycle”, rallies his classmates to demand better treatment and better facilities for the “Misfit Class”. The result? Iruma’s efforts land his class in the Royal One building, previously used by one individual and one individual only—the previous Demon King.
