This November, Marvel’s Voices: Heritage #1 marks the second time the series will highlight its Indigenous creators and characters.
Marvel’s Voices will see a whole new year of storytelling and celebration begin for the series with a one-shot focused on the Indigenous characters of the Marvel Universe.
Marvel’s Voices: Heritage #1 was announced for Marvel’s November 2021 solicitations and will feature an anthology of stories written by some of the imprint’s new and established Indigenous creators. The issue will be the seventh to come from the Voices title, which has sought to highlight the work of writers and artists from the Black, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, Latino and Latinx communities. These creators have developed short stories that move Marvel’s characters identifying with these communities further into the spotlight.

Marvel’s Voices: Heritage #1 will mark the second time the imprint has celebrated National Native American Heritage month. Last November, the second issue of Voices to roll off the presses was Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices #1, which featured short stories such as “The Watcher” and “Echo: Hitting Back” from writers that include Jeffrey Veregge, Rebecca Roanhorse and others. Artists that worked on last year’s anthology book included David Cutler, Kyle Charles and more.
Roanhorse and Cutler are confirmed to be returning for this year’s issue focused on Indigenous voices, which is set to feature multiple shorts. Another Echo-related story will be seen exploring River, a character related to Marvel’s new host to the Phoenix Force, Echo, which will be further explored in Phoenix Song: Echo starting this October. Another story will focus on Snowguard, with other stories for the book to be revealed later on.
November’s issue for Marvel’s Voices also marks a special occasion for the series, being that it will be the second time one community that the series seeks to highlight will be focused on in a one-shot. The very first issue of the line was released in Feb. 2020, the year seeing only one more issue with the Nov. 2020 title to previously focus on Indigenous voices.
Since Feb. 2021, the one-shot celebrations have become more consistent, releasing an issue almost every other month. The most recent, Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1, came out this past June and focused on LGBTQ+ members of the Marvel family, such as Wiccan, Hulkling, Iceman, Mystique and others. This August will see an issue focusing on Marvel’s Asian superheroes, such as Shang-Chi and Silk, with a book highlighting Latinx heroes like Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider and Miles Morales’ Spider-Man in October.
Marvel’s Voices: Heritage #1 is expected to release on Nov. 2, 2021 from Marvel Comics, with more teases and announcements to hold fans over to be revealed in the coming weeks.
