Walt Disney World Eases Mask Mandates at Outdoor Parks

Walt Disney World is changing its stance on face masks. Beginning Thursday, visitors to the Florida theme park resort will be able to choose whether or not to wear face covers in outside lines, outdoor theaters, and outdoor activities. Previously, masks were required. In outdoor shared areas, face coverings will remain optional. With the exception of ferry boats, they will continue to be required for guests aged 2 and up in all indoor facilities such as restaurants, theaters, and transportation.

Disney World shuttered for two months last year at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened more over a year ago with tight safety restrictions that included masking, social separation, and crowd limits. Disney World officials began allowing tourists to enter outdoor common spaces sans masks last spring. Disney authorities said last month that all salaried and non-union hourly employees in the United States who work on-site will be required to be completely vaccinated.
