Spider-Man’s Sinister War Goes Full-On Horror in Issue #3 First Look

[ad_1]

Spider-Man lies critically injured against a grave in Kindred’s cemetery, looking as though he will soon join the dead before a close ally arrives.

Spider-Man lies on the cusp of death before a friend comes to his aid in a preview for Sinister War #3.

The night is nothing shy of eerie as we open to the cemetery where Spider-Man was last seen during a massive brawl with nearly 30 villains from his rogues gallery. You can almost hear the pitter-patter of the rain as it bounces off of the headstones and lands onto the floor, mixing with the color red. Following the bloody trail through the mist and the fog, we see our hero holed up against a grave, looking as though his name belongs on the placard behind him.

This issue is the penultimate chapter in the Sinister War event that sees Kindred sending nearly all of Spider-Man’s enemies after him to punish him for his “sins.” Not that the villains have any choice though, as Kindred will kill them all should they fail to squash the friendly, neighborhood hero, promising that he is “rolling out the red carpet” to Hell for all of them. For the one who successfully does the deed though, Kindred promises salvation to that person who will serve by his side, rather than enduring eternal torment.

The previous issue saw Spider-Man stabbed in the back (not betrayed, literally stabbed in the back) by Kraven the Hunter (Ana Kravinoff). The preview sees our hero licking – or webbing – his wounds, feeling a sense of dread as he knows he is severely injured, outmanned and overwhelmed. Just when he feels hopelessly alone, one of his closest allies arrives out of the fog to help: Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat.

The thief and former girlfriend, current friend, of Peter Parker’s claims to have heard about the massive battle between villains on the radio. The villains were all clamoring for the opportunity to crush the spider, each team rescuing the wall crawler just to own the right to kill him later. Peter tells Felicia that the situation is dire and that they don’t stand a chance against the combined supervillain teams, to which Black Cat is overly optimistic about their chances.

While these events occur, Kindred looks upon the proceedings from afar, claiming that things can “always get worse” for Spider-Man. The wickedly-horrifying villain stares into a wall of mirrors, promising readers that he has one more surprise and “reunion” for our hero.
