Marvel Comics reveals three more variant covers for Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land #1, one of which offers a better look at Ka-Zar’s new outfit.
Marvel Comics has provided CBR with the exclusive first look at three variant covers for the first issue of Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land, the upcoming series that marks the resurrection of Kevin Plunder.
The first variant comes from series artist German Garcia and offers the first clear look at Ka-Zar’s new, dinosaur-themed outfit (complete with a stegosaurus-like tail), which True Believers previously caught a glimpse of on Elizabeth Torque’s variant cover. The second variant comes from R.B. Silva (joined by colorist David Curiel) and sees Ka-Zar alongside Shanna. The third and final cover comes from Rob Liefeld as part of Deadpool’s 30th anniversary celebration and, naturally, features Ka-Zar alongside the Merc with a Mouth.
Written by Zac Thompson and illustrated by German Garcia with a main cover by Jesus Saiz, Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land #1 is slated to hit comic shops on Wednesday, Sept. 8. In addition to the new variants by Garcia, Silva and Liefeld, as well as the aforementioned variant by Torque, the issue also features variant covers by Peach Momoko and Juan Cabal.
One of Marvel’s earliest superheroes, Ka-Zar was created by the legendary duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character first appeared in X-Men #10, which has a cover date of March 1965. The issue not only introduced Ka-Zar, but also marked the X-Men’s very first trip to the Savage Land.
