Production for Season 4 of HBO’s Westworld has come to a halt as a member of production tests positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
As the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases continues to rise across the globe, production on several major films and television shows have had to halt as projects across the industry did at the height of the pandemic in 2020. The latest to shut down is HBO’s Westworld.
It was recently reported that filming for Westworld Season 4 was forced to shut down when a member of the production tested positive for COVID-19. The shutdown will last for at least two days.
Westworld is the latest show to be shut down, following other projects including HBO’s House of the Dragon and Netflix’s Bridgerton, both of which had to pause filming due to positive tests. These shutdown comes in the wake of the spread of the delta variant of the coronavirus, which accounts for more than 80 percent of new cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
It is uncertain how the brief pause will impact the release of Westworld Season 4 as no premiere date has been announced. The HBO series has reportedly added Aurora Perrineau to its cast, which includes, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Simon Quarterman and Rodrigo Santoro, Aaron Paul, Vincent Cassel, Lena Waithe, Scott Mescudi, Marshawn Lynch, John Gallagher Jr., Michael Ealy and Tommy Flanagan.
