One of the most highly anticipated new video games is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady Studios. It serves as the next entry in their acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. The game sees government agent Amanda Waller send in the black ops supervillain team, the Suicide Squad—consisting of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark—as a line of defense against the Justice League, who are being controlled by the villainous Brainiac.
While it seems like the four main protagonists—if one could call them that—are the only playable characters announced so far, a game starring the Suicide Squad would benefit greatly from an eclectic roster of characters. Here’s hoping that Kill the Justice League features a larger number of characters that are later included as downloadable content. There’s certainly no shortage of figures from the previous Arkham games or the pages of DC Comics—whether they’ve been on Task Force X before or not—that could stand toe-to-toe with the Justice League.
9 Cheetah Would Make for a Thrilling Gameplay Experience
From the most recent trailer, it looks like Wonder Woman is one of the only Justice League members not under Brainiac’s control. However, just because Diana doesn’t need to be stopped, it doesn’t mean her archnemesis Barbara Ann Minerva—better known as the Cheetah—won’t be recruited by Amanda Waller to take on the other mind-controlled members of the team.
Cheetah would prove more than a match for the League’s best. Thanks to her animal-like speed, reflexes, and ferocious combat skills, she’d make a thrilling gameplay experience for players.
8 Black Manta Would Have No Shortage of Abilities for Players to Use
While having King Shark on the Squad probably means some gameplay takes place underwater, adding Black Manta would not only give players that same kind of gameplay but also give them access to the villain’s numerous weapons and suit-based abilities when taking on Aquaman and friends.
Black Manta’s skill set is tailor-made for a game like Kill the Justice League. Along with his jetpack and his helmet that can blast laser beams from its eyes, he possesses a harpoon, a speargun, and a pair of swords (among other tools at his disposal) to dish out damage as he sees fit. Were Rocksteady to implement his skills into the gameplay in just the right way, he’d be a fan favorite to play among both regular DC fans and casual gamers.
7 Firefly Would Be Handy Against Martian Manhunter
A bonus of setting a Suicide Squad game in the Batman: Arkham universe is that a number of villains players went up against in previous games will be available for them to control and wreak havoc with. One such villain is everyone’s favorite pyromaniac, Garfield Lynns (also known as Firefly).
If Martian Manhunter is present on the Justice League in the game, Amanda Waller would benefit from having Firefly on hand to take on the Martian, as fire is his primary weakness. Firefly lends himself to some fun and inventive gameplay. Players can take to the skies and use his flamethrower to spread fires over different areas and other enemies.
6 Solomon Grundy Isn’t Finished in the Batman: Arkham Franchise
Another villain from the Batman: Arkham series that deserves to be in Kill the Justice League is Solomon Grundy. Not only would his size, strength, and endurance be well-suited to take on the Justice League, but so would the fact that he’s mostly incapable of dying – a trait that could work itself into his gameplay nicely.
Whenever Grundy’s health bar is depleted, it’d be cool to see him gain a new health bar, along with either enhanced strength or intelligence each time it happens. This would reference how Grundy always returns to life in the comics with a different personality and power set than he had previously.
5 The Creeper Deserves the Chance to Go Wild on Task Force X
Reporter Jack Ryder played a supporting role in the previous Batman: Arkham games, most notably in Arkham Knight where he wishes he had superpowers. While that was likely a wink to comic book fans, it’d be a real treat to see Ryder’s questionably sane alter-ego, The Creeper, turn up at some point – perhaps as a member of the Suicide Squad in Kill the Justice League?
While he’s never served on Task Force X in the comics, The Creeper is just the right kind of wild card that’d keep his more villainous teammates on their toes. And that’s in addition to his incredible acrobatic fighting skills and painful laughter. They’d both be effective against the Justice League and a blast for players to control.
4 Doctor Light Could Handle Green Lantern If He’s Competent Enough
Doctor Light has been steeped in controversy ever since his role in the controversial comic storyline Identity Crisis. However, he deserves a return to his regular status as a bumbling yet mostly competent antagonist. Having him in Kill the Justice League would be a step in the right direction, not just in repairing his image but because he’d be useful against a certain Justice League member.
John Stewart was shown to be one of the Justice League members under Brainiac’s control, and he could do much damage with the power he has. However, Doctor Light has the power to take control of anything that emits light—including the constructs from the Green Lantern’s power ring. Therefore, he could turn them against Stewart (permitted he doesn’t screw up while doing so).
3 Bronze Tiger Is a Force To Be Reckoned With
It wouldn’t be a Suicide Squad game without bringing one of the team’s most iconic members, Bronze Tiger, along for the ride. Ben Turner could be established as having gone up against members of the Justice League before. His experience could be the reason Amanda Waller recruits him for Task Force X.
As one of the deadliest fighters in the DC Universe, Bronze Tiger’s abilities could be taken great advantage of in Kill the Justice League‘s gameplay. For example, different combinations of long-range, short-range, and aerial fighting moves can be dished out on the brainwashed Justice League and Brainiac’s other minions.
2 Killer Frost Could Stop The Flash In His Tracks
From what’s been seen in the latest trailers, The Flash will be a persistent adversary to the Squad in service of Brainiac, and will no doubt have the advantage thanks to his speed. Thankfully, there are quite a few characters in the Suicide Squad’s history who are well-equipped to take on the Scarlet Speedster, namely Caitlin Snow. She was one of the people to take on the identity of Killer Frost.
The Flash’s weakness to cold—which slows down his speed—would make things easier for Task Force X thanks to Killer Frost, whose powers could be rendered in imaginative ways by Rocksteady’s developers. In addition, having Caitlin Snow play a larger role in the game could see her save both the Suicide Squad and the other Justice League members before officially joining the Justice League as seen in the comics.
1 It’s About Time That Deathstroke Accepts Amanda Waller’s Offer
If there is one character fans are dying to see added to the game, it’s Deathstroke – and with good reason! The post-credits scene in Batman: Arkham Origins saw Amanda Waller offer an imprisoned Slade Wilson a deal to join Task Force X, which he seemingly denied. However, considering he’s once again in prison after the events of Arkham Knight, perhaps Wilson might not say no if Waller extends him another offer.
Taking on the Justice League wouldn’t be too hard for Deathstroke normally. However, it’d be interesting to see how well he’d fare in battle against them when they’re under Brainiac’s mind control. Regardless, having him in the game would allow Rocksteady to pull out all the stops when it comes to showing off Deathstroke as the master assassin that he is. With the right kind of gunplay, swordplay, and fighting skills, players would love being able to control him.
