When Griffith became Femto, he assaulted Casca in front of Guts, who he wanted revenge on. Griffith always blamed Guts for his downfall, and he refused to take any responsibility for his own actions. Instead, he deemed it Guts’ fault for leaving him in the first place.
So, he did the unthinkable to Casca, the woman that Guts loved, as he gained god-like powers and became Femto. Griffith had started off the series as a hero, but by this point, he was a true villain.

By capturing and holding her parents hostage, she manipulated Chihiro into signing away her name and taking the new name Sen, as she slowly started to forget her old life.
