7 Harsh Realities Of Being A JoBro

[ad_1]

Every JoJo main has a few friends who accompany them in their journey, but it’s not all fun and games being a Joestar companion.

The JoBros are also known as the friends who accompany the main protagonist of any given JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure chapter throughout their journey. Oftentimes, they serve as necessary and essential comrades that the central hero could not survive without.

Despite their utility, there are many hazards behind being a JoBro that may make one reconsider applying for the role. Through identifying the worst truths about being a side character in the anime, we can better understand how accompanying a member of the Joestar family is not as glamorous as it might seem.

7 JoBros Are Forced Through Excruciating Experiences

An unfortunate fact about being a JoBro is that they’re put through excruciating experiences. Sometimes, they’re forced to fight unstoppable adversaries, such as in Bucciarati’s battle against Diavolo.

As powerful as Sticky Fingers may have been, he was no contest for the crime lord’s Stand. The lopsided battle was reminiscent of Polnareff’s encounter with DIO, as Silver Chariot’s incredible speed could not counter the World’s time stopping prowess. Though JoBros may be strong as a team, their encounters with evil are not always pleasant.

6 Most JoBros Have To Fight The Main Protagonist First

Most JoBros only join the heroes’ side after being thoroughly bludgeoned by the main protagonist. This was a phenomenon observed in virtually every act, from Joseph Joestar’s victory over Caesar Zeppeli to Giorno’s triumph over Bucciarati.

Perhaps the most famous example comes from Josuke’s victory over Okuyasu since the fight left Okuyasu bleeding profusely. Nonetheless, Josuke saved his life after Keicho’s Stand delivered otherwise fatal wounds, which cemented their friendship for the coming battle against Yoshikage Kira.

5 JoBros Seldom Have Friendships Outside The Group

Although the friendships the JoBros make with one another last a lifetime, they are usually the only comrades they have. This was particularly evident for Kakyoin, whose past had been so profoundly impacted by loneliness that he resorted to gaming as a coping mechanism.

The only exception can be found in Koichi Hirose, whose bond with Yukako and Rohan Kishibe ultimately got them assimilated into the group. However, this is likely on account of the young man’s charismatic and forgiving personality; it doesn’t come naturally to most of the series’ other supporting characters.

4 JoBros Are Often Forced Into Other Peoples’ Battles

JoBros are often forced into unnecessary battles for the sake of their friends. For example, Avdol frequently risked life and limb to save Polnareff despite the Frenchman’s recklessness and proclivity for danger. In the end, Polnareff’s belligerence ultimately even got his friend killed.

Josuke and Okuyasu were also forced to fight Rohan Kishibe in order to save Koichi since his curiosity landed him in serious danger. Without Josuke’s blind rage, Heaven’s Door could have done unspeakable things to the heroes and might have even ended their story prematurely.

3 The JoBros’ Stands Are Never As Strong As The Main Characters’

As side characters, many JoBros must live with the fact that their Stands will never be as powerful as their protagonist counterpart’s. The most significant contrast is seen when comparing Abbacchio with Giorno Giovanna.

The former’s Stand was only situationally useful for finding Diavolo’s identity and uncovering the tactics of elusive opponents. Conversely, Giorno can return people from the brink of death and later even reverse all negative things done to him. By the end of Golden Wind, he was effectively invincible.

2 Many JoBros Must Fend For Themselves

As useful as their comrades might be, the JoBros are often forced to fend for themselves – and with questionable outcomes. When Caesar Zeppeli refused to wait for the other Hamon users, he stormed the Pillar Men fortress and swiftly got himself killed.

The heroes are also divided by circumstances. Narancia was cornered by La Squadra member Formaggio, only realizing the villain’s presence after his Stand had already began to take effect. When becoming a JoBro, it’s unwise to count on anyone else when life and death is on the line.

1 At Least One JoBro Is Going To Die In Any Given Chapter

Dio vs kakyoin

Ever since Phantom Blood and the tragic death of Baron Zeppeli, it has been a longstanding tradition that one JoBro die before the end of a story. In some instances, such as Golden Wind, the entire supporting cast risks being wiped out.

Even Diamond Is Unbreakable, a chapter defined by its light-heartedness, saw the temporary death of Okuyasu at the hand of Yoshikage Kira. Were it not for Keicho’s divine intervention (and a degree of plot armor), the story would have had a darker conclusion.
