One day, while riding her bike to school, Hane Sakura encounters a motorcycle enthusiast who introduces her to the motorcycle club and the thrilling life of riding motorcycles. Like many comedy slice of life anime, the story itself is fairly simple. Each episode highlights a day in the club, filled with comedy, running gags, and scenes of cute girls doing cute things. The best part of this anime is getting to see the friendship develop between Hane Sakura and the other girls, who all have their unique and wild personalities.
If you like Super Cub for its friendship themes and motorcycle elements, Bakuon!! is a prime choice. However, the vibe is very different, much, much less serious and more of a pure comedy. If you’re looking for realism, though, this anime might be a tough fit. Physics and logic are defied constantly (in the trailer, the characters are depicted going so fast that they generate wind and throw a cyclist off the road into the trees!), and one of the motorcycles goes as far as being sentient and talking. Some audiences might think some of the side characters are a bit too one-dimensional. Still, we think it’s a great show to have on your list if you’re looking for something fanciful.
