5 Kanto Pokémon Inosuke Would Catch (& 5 He’d Rather Fight)

[ad_1]

Demon Slayer introduced anime fans to their favorite boar-headed warrior, the hard-hitting Inosuke Hashibira. He grew up in the wilderness surrounded by animals, and he is thus a competitive and aggressive person who has sharp instincts and simple but honest interests. What if he became a Pokémon trainer instead of a demon slayer?

The Pokémon world is divided into regions, and the region for Generation I was the Kanto region, home of the franchise’s first 151 Pokémon. If Inosuke had been born and raised here, he would become a wild and enthusiastic Pokémon trainer whose team would match his personality and upbringing. But not all Kanto Pokémon suit his needs.

10 Would Want: Primeape Is Inosuke In Pokémon Form

Few Pokémon embody Inosuke’s ferocious and competitive spirit more than the fighting monkey Primepe, which ranks among the fiercest Generation I Pokémon. Ash Ketchum was in over his head when he tried to capture one, since he was unprepared for this Pokémon’s aggressive and short-tempered nature.

Inosuke, however, would get along well with wild Primeapes, and he would have the intuition and instincts to understand these creatures and their needs. Unlike Ash, Inosuke would earn the trust of any Primeape, and it would loyally fight for him in battle.

9 Would Fight: Persian Is Fickle & Elegant

Persian is another notable Normal-type Pokémon from the Kanto region. A predatory cat Inosuke would instinctively understand, it’s also a classy and elegant Pokémon that acts like a fickle snob at times, and Persian mainly appeals to rich and snobby people. In fact, Don Giovanni owns one.

Inosuke would have trouble training a Persian for his team. Instead, he would fight wild Persians to hone his technique, and a quick, agile opponent like this is the perfect training partner.

8 Would Want: Growlithe Is Fierce & Can Track Scents With Ease

Inosuke wants Pokémon with ferocious fighting skills and good instincts and survival skills, and the small but tough Growlithe is just what he was looking for. Despite its small size and cuddly appearance, Growlithe is a scrappy fire-based fighter that can hold its own against larger Pokémon than itself, and its speed is truly remarkable.

Such speed and fighting spirit are perfect for any Pokémon on Inosuke’s team, and as a bonus, Growlithe has an excellent nose and can track any scent. Such tracking skills are vital for survival and hunting down new Pokémon to capture.

7 Would Fight: Tauros Is Tough & Stubborn

The bull-like Tauros would be a fairly appealing addition to Inosuke’s team, if he can instinctively connect to this Pokémon and overcome its stubborn nature. Inosuke would also profit greatly from fighting wild Tauros, and what fun it would be.

Tauros can use their horns and their three whip-like tails in battle, and Inosuke must stay on his toes to handle such a tough and aggressive foe in mortal combat. If he can survive a Tauros, he can survive a demon attack, too.

6 Would Want: Rhyhorn Is Tough & Reckless

Rock and Ground Pokémon take advantage of their natural durability in battle, as long as they avoid their elemental weaknesses in battle. Rhyhorn is a Rock and Ground-type Pokémon, and Inosuke would adore this creature’s one-track mind and reckless fighting style.

Rhyhorn’s simple mind, aggressive attitude, and short legs make it ideal for headlong charge attacks, and it hardly ever feels pain, no matter what it hits. Inosuke would love to capture a Rhyhorn to serve as a hard-hitting finisher, and the Rhyhorn would instinctively know that its owner understands it, thus empowering it.

5 Would Fight: Machoke Is A Fierce Fighter

Machoke is a humanoid Pokémon with immense strength and hardened muscles for combat. It’s the middle stage between the petite Machop and the four-armed Machamp, and Inosuke would have a blast training against any of them. Machoke would be a great match for him.

Machoke has all kinds of advanced moves at its disposal, and Inosuke must dodge all of its attacks, or he will get pulverized. Such high-stakes combat would make him feel alive, and motivate him to get better at dodging and avoid breaking all his bones.

4 Would Want: Marowak Is Primitive & Aggressive, Like Inosuke

Unlike its timid basic stage, Cubone, the hard-hitting Marowak is a confident and tenacious fighter, and it can deal a lot of damage for a creature of its size. Marowak can use a bone as a boomerang weapon and club, and Inosuke would love to see such a Pokémon in action on his team.

Marowak looks like a cartoony caveman, a bone-oriented humanoid that fearlessly takes on foes much larger than itself in mortal combat. Marowak has a bad attitude, but Inosuke can connect to it on an instinctive level and earn its trust.

3 Would Fight: Metapod Is A Worthwhile Target, Despite Being Boring

Metapod is one of two pod-like Pokémon in Generation I, with the other being Kakuna. Neither of them would appeal to Inosuke as a member of his Pokémon team, though Inosuke would still appreciate the role that Metapod and Kakuna play in natural Pokémon evolution.

Inosuke wouldn’t consider a Metapod for his team. Instead, he would use such Pokémon as target practice, to see if he has the strength to break through hard outer shells. A few thousand reps against a Metapod is a fine way to build strength.

2 Would Want: Fearow Is A Mighty Sky Predator

It’s a good idea to have at least one Flying-type Pokémon in any team so the trainer has a fighter who can attack an opposing Flying-type or get a serious mobility advantage against a Pokémon that can’t fly or use ranged attacks. Inosuke will capture a Fearow for his own team.

Fearow is a bold and ruthless predator, renowned for its diving attacks and its drill-like beak (a fact reflected in its original Japanese name). This Normal-type bird would communicate with Inoske via pure instinct, and it would gladly swoop down and impale the opposition to impress its owner. It’s an apex predator.

1 Would Fight: Hitmonlee Is A Kicking Fiend

The humanoid Hitmonlee is an expert at kicking, earning it the nickname “the kicking fiend.” It’s the counterpart to Hitmonchan, a punching Pokémon, and Inosuke would have fun sparring with either one. But Hitmonlee would be a more unique challenge.

Inosuke already has experience fighting opponents who use their arms and handheld weapons to fight, so he needs an opponent who can challenge him in different ways to expand his skills a bit. Dodging a flurry of kicks should fit the bill.
