My Hero Academia‘s world is divided between good and evil, with pro heroes fighting hard to preserve peace and justice in the streets and these pros can easily be compared to comic book superheroes such as the X-Men, Justice League, or the Avengers. But can they be compared to the Jedi Order in the Star Wars universe?
Jedi Knights also work tirelessly to uphold justice and defend the innocent, but they aren’t identical to pro heroes. They are more like monks than anything, and Jedi are known to empty themselves of emotion and ambition so they can better serve others. They are also highly attuned to the Force and use lightsabers as defensive tools, and never as weapons. With all that in mind, which My Hero Academia pro heroes could become a Jedi, and which don’t make the cut?
10 GOOD JEDI: Ryukyu Is Humble & Responsible
Some pro heroes are simply too proud or too emotional to be Jedi Knights, but Ryukyu the dragon hero is a different story. Although she ranks in Japan’s top 10, she is quite humble and never boasts, and she is a fine mentor for trainee heroes, too. She doesn’t do anything for her own sake.
This kind of selflessness is perfect for a Jedi Knight, and unlike Sith Lords, Jedi don’t seek to advance their own power or build a legacy for themselves. So, Ryukyu’s selfless nature and her heroic resolve would make her a fine Jedi.
9 BAD JEDI: Endeavor Is Actually More Like Darth Sidious
While Darth Sidious is best compared to anime villains such as All For One, the flaming hero Endeavor is actually fairly similar to Sidious as well, and that’s a problem. Like Sidious, Endeavor is self-centered and wants to create an immortal legacy, even at the expense of others, such as his own family.
Endeavor is prideful and reacts poorly to criticism or opposition, and he is fiercely determined to prove himself the best. He sees his son Shoto as a Sith-style apprentice, valuing the boy only for his raw talent. Endeavor is slowly changing his ways, but overall, he’s practically the opposite of a Jedi.
8 GOOD JEDI: Thirteen Gladly Risks Her Life For Others
A number of pro heroes also teach at the U.A. school, and one of them is the astronaut-themed hero Thirteen. This hero rarely shows her face, but she does make her courage and heroic resolve quite clear when the fighting starts. Thirteen won’t hesitate to risk her life to protect U.A.’s students.
Thirteen stood up to the League of Villains when the League stormed USJ, and that’s promising for Thirteen’s Jedi candidacy. In addition, Thirteen is humble and selfless, and isn’t easily riled up. Her emotions are always kept in check.
7 BAD JEDI: Present Mic Gets Too Excited To Meditate Like A Jedi
Present Mic loves showmanship and attention, and he even hosts his own radio show as a hobby. Present Mic’s punkish appearance and personality are perfect for a radio jock and music lover like him, which makes him a memorable character. But he won’t become a Jedi at this rate.
Present Mic has a good heart, but he would refuse to become humble enough to train as a Jedi, and he wouldn’t have the patience for meditation or tedious diplomacy missions across the Star Wars galaxy. Being a Jedi comes with many hardships, including a lack of personal possessions, and Present Mic would hotly object.
6 GOOD JEDI: Cementoss Has The Right Personality For Jedi
Cementoss is a brute-force hero who creates concrete walls and barriers to contain villains, and he once defeated Eijiro Kirishima and Rikido Sato in a mock battle. More importantly, Cementoss has the right personality to become a Jedi Knight, given his patient and serious demeanor.
Cementoss is tough but fair, and he wants others to succeed, and is highly protective, too. If he ever lost his Quirk, he could learn to master the Force instead and use it to move debris and trap troublemakers without shedding blood. That would make a fine “Quirk” for a Jedi.
5 BAD JEDI: Midnight Has Too Much Fun
The R-rated hero is Midnight, a support-type hero who can put villains to sleep with her Somnambulist Quirk. She can dispatch foes without shedding any blood, which the Jedi would approve of, but her personality is all wrong for the Jedi Order.
The Jedi say “there is no emotion, there is peace,” and “there is no passion, there is serenity,” but Midnight disagrees. She’s a lively and fun-loving person who makes a game of everything, and she would have zero patience with the monastic Jedi Order and their Code. She’d rather run free.
4 GOOD JEDI: Hawks Is Responsible & Kind
Hawks the pro hero is a fine candidate to become a Jedi, given his calm and polite personality, but he would need to make some adjustments and learn inner peace to truly become a part of the Order. He’s still young, and his emotions run a bit hot sometimes. There is no emotion, there is peace.
Still, Hawks is more of a Jedi than not, especially since his ultimate dream is to create a peaceful world where pro heroes like him have no more battles to fight. The Jedi would like that world too, and Hawks would gladly learn the Jedi Code and train with the Force if it means making that peaceful world a reality.
3 BAD JEDI: Mt. Lady Has The Wrong Attitude For Jedi Work
The colossal hero Mt. Lady has a huge combat form and a big, loud personality to match, meaning she has the wrong spirit for a Jedi Knight. She’s in a roughly similar position as Midnight in that regard, being a fun-loving hero who has no patience for meditation or diplomacy.
Mt. Lady is a good person who means well, but the Jedi wouldn’t even think about training her, and she wouldn’t find the Jedi Code very appealing, either. There is no emotion? Of course there is, Mt. Lady would say. That’s what makes life worth living.
2 GOOD JEDI: Edgeshot Is Cool & Smart
Not all pro heroes make a game out of everything. Unlike the showy Midnight and Present Mic, the #4 pro hero, the ninja-like Edgeshot, is cool and composed at all times, as a true shinobi. He takes his duties seriously, but he still keeps his emotions in check. There is no passion, there is serenity.
Edgeshot is a tactically gifted and insightful pro hero, and he is clearly a patient and careful hero in the line of duty, too. That’s promising since Jedi are not supposed to build up a head of steam and rush into things. Edgeshot would love the Jedi Code.
1 BAD JEDI: Captain Celebrity Is Incredibly Arrogant
Christopher Skyline, or Captain Celebrity, is a side character in the My Hero Academia Vigilantes tie-in, and it’s clear that while he is quite powerful, he has some flaws in his personality. Captain Celebrity, as his hero name suggests, loves media attention and adoration, and he won’t hesitate to show off.
His many fans enjoy his antics, but Captain Celebrity would make a terrible impression on the Jedi, given his self-absorbed and vain nature. In fact, he won’t bother saving the day unless he gets proper media coverage, while Jedi do the right thing for its own sake. They never seek praise or adoration from others.
