My Hero Academia is a superhero action anime series with a combat system defined by Quirks, or supernatural abilities and gifts. Some Quirks are clearly intended for heroic work, while others are villainous in nature. Other Quirks are more neutral or flexible, and that includes the Reflect ability of the villain Flect Turn, who leads the Humarise organization in World Heroes’ Mission.
Flect Turn’s Quirk can reflect an opponent’s energy and send it right back at them, and he can also use his costume’s mirror array to use that redirected energy to move around, like rocket boosters. However, Flect Turn’s Quirk has its upper limits, and it won’t work against certain types of attacks. Which anime characters could Flect defeat, and which will put an end to his rampage?
10 CAN DEFEAT FLECT: All Might Is The Symbol Of Peace (My Hero Academia)
In his own universe, Flect Turn could defeat a wide variety of heroes and villains, but if his opponent can go Plus Ultra, Flect Turn might be in trouble. His Reflect Quirk could handle several of Izuku’s Smash attacks, but after a point, Reflect couldn’t handle any more strikes, and All Might could do even better.
In his muscle form, the incredible All Might could deliver even stronger blows and overwhelm Flect’s defenses even quicker than Izuku could, especially if he unleashes his ultimate move, the United States of Smash. Flect is going down.
9 CAN’T DEFEAT FLECT: Edward Elric Can’t Get Through Flect’s Defenses (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Edward Elric is used to fighting superhuman enemies such as the homunculi, who can outlast ordinary humans with the regenerative power of the Philosopher’s Stone. Edward has a few assets on his side, from his strong scientific mind to his remarkable combat alchemy and his martial arts skills.
Unfortunately, none of this is enough to overwhelm Flect Turn’s defenses, and any of Ed’s alchemy-based attacks will be thrown right back at him with impunity. Edward certainly couldn’t finish the fight with martial arts or improved bladed weapons, either.
8 CAN DEFEAT FLECT: Diavolo’s Stand Can Manipulate Time (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Diavolo was the final villain of the Golden Wind story arc, and he had a Stand named King Crimson that was practically unbeatable in single combat. This humanoid melee Stand can move freely in a short chunk of time, then cut that time from the victim’s own existence, rendering them unable to strike back.
King Crimson can outmaneuver Flect Turn with this ability and land a lethal blow on the villain before Flect even realizes what’s happening. Flect’s Quirk is automatic and always active, but not even Reflect can operate while time is being altered like this.
7 CAN’T DEFEAT FLECT: Erza Scarlet Lacks The Necessary Firepower (Fairy Tail)
Erza Scarlet is a powerful Fairy Tail wizard who could push Flect Turn pretty hard in battle, but she can’t quite finish the job. She relies on swords to fight, and Flect Turn has nothing to fear from Erza’s sword attacks. He can redirect them with ease, and not even Erza’s limited long-range attacks will work.
Erza has her own tough defenses with those armored suits of hers, but Flect’s defenses are even tougher, and Erza’s redirected attacks will break her armored suits one by one until Erza is exhausted. She would have to retreat.
6 CAN DEFEAT FLECT: Demon Lord Milim Nava Is Too Strong (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime)
Demon Milim Nava is one of Rimuru Tempest’s best friends and certainly one of his strongest allies. Despite her youthful appearance and goofy behavior, Milim is vastly powerful and durable in combat, and she doesn’t even fear the likes of Veldora the storm dragon or a full-sized Charybdis.
Milim can use physical attacks and the devastating Drago Buster move to obliterate anything in her way, and her best attacks can easily rival the United States of Smash. Milim would soon breach Flect Turn’s defenses through sheer brute force, then pummel him into submission.
5 CAN’T DEFEAT FLECT: Megumi Fushiguro Has Animal Shadows (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Megumi Fushiguro is one of Yuji’s friends and allies, along with Nobara, and Megumi was the first jujutsu sorcerer whom Yuji ever met. Megumi is noted for creating shadow animals with his cursed energy, often spirit dogs, birds or snakes in particular.
Megumi is a remarkable sorcerer, but he’s not the best, and he definitely couldn’t force his way through Flect Turn’s formidable Quirk-based defenses. Any of Megumi’s attacks would get reflected right back at him, and he’d soon get knocked out by his own power.
4 CAN DEFEAT FLECT: Akaza Is A Tireless Melee Warrior (Demon Slayer)
Akaza is the upper moon three demon, meaning he is easily stronger than most Hashira, which is saying a lot. He appeared during the Mugen Train story arc, where he fought Kyojuro Rengoku in a stubborn fight until he finally wore Kyojuro down with his astonishing endurance. Akaza can recover from even the most serious wounds during a fight.
Akaza not only has titanic physical strength and endurance, but he also has a lot of stamina, never tiring during a fight no matter how many punches he throws. He would need a few minutes to finally breach Flect Turn’s defenses, but he could do it, and he could also heal himself every time he gets hurt from the redirected attacks.
3 CAN’T DEFEAT FLECT: Asmodeus Alice Would Burn Himself Away (Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun!)
Asmodeus Alice and Azazel Ameri are two of the strongest and most talented students at the Babyls school, and they would struggle mightily against Flect Turn. Alice would be astonished to meet a human whose abilities can rival a demon’s so easily.
Asmodeus Alice can use fire-based attacks and can fly on bat-like wings, but none of this will win him the fight. Flect Turn would redirect Alice’s fire-based spells right back at him, and soon, Alice would be turned to ashes by his own power. He’d never land a single blow on Flect Turn.
2 CAN DEFEAT FLECT: Captain-General Yamamoto Can Burn Down The World (Bleach)
Captain-General Yamamoto has led the Gotei 13 for over 1,000 years, and according to him, no one was ever born who could surpass his might. Yamamoto may be old, but he is immensely powerful all the same, and old age has only lessened his stamina somewhat. Otherwise, he’s better than ever.
Yamamoto can use all kinds of kido spells and martial arts, and his shikai can deliver incredible flame-based attacks. If that’s not quite enough to overwhelm Flect Turn’s defenses, then his fearsome bankai, Zanka no Tachi, will definitely finish the job.
1 CAN’T DEFEAT FLECT: Kirito Has No Options Against Flect Turn (Sword Art Online)
Kirito is known as the “black swordsman,” due to his black coat and his dark hair during his video game adventures, such as in Aincrad. Kirito is noted for using two powerful swords at once, and his swordsmanship is some of the finest the MMORPG world has ever seen. But now, Flect Turn is playing the game, too.
If Flect’s Quirk makes it into the game world with him, Kirito is doomed. None of Kirito’s sword-based attacks will make any headway with Flect’s Quirk-based defenses, and Kirito will exhaust himself by trying. He will eventually give up and retreat.
