Some of these villains, including Mana and Buggy, do not even bother with concealing their villainous intentions. However, there were other villains, including Yukino, Malty, and Toue that tried hiding their evil plans behind good intentions, appearances, blatant lies, or a combination of these three elements that made them even more obvious as villains to viewers.

Yukino Azusagawa yakitate!! Japan

Yukino put on a professional, composed front in public during the Pantasia Newcomers arc in Yakitate!! Japan. However, just before viewers met her in person, Matsushiro spent the time before that first meeting telling Azuma and Kawachi about Yukino throwing Tsukino’s mother’s ashes on a dead tree.

This revelation immediately gave away that Yukino, despite her initial friendliness, was secretly plotting something terrible. This eventually turned out to be true when Yukino sabotaged the semifinals to eliminate Kawachi and get Kanmuri into the final round.

8 Alois Trancy Was Evil Despite His Tragic Backstory (Black Butler)

Alois Trancy Black Butler II

Fans loved to hate Alois Trancy from the moment he was introduced, due to his hijacking Ciel’s body partway through Black Butler’s second season. Despite his tragic backstory being touched upon, fans found it hard to sympathize with him and see much good in him at all.

It did not help that Alois abused his servants, unlike Ciel who treated his servants more nicely. It did not help either that Alois did not get much done other than hijacking Ciel’s body and tormenting various characters, much to the ire of fans who enjoyed other villains in the series before Alois’ appearance.

He traveled between different safe zones to acquire more followers so he could use them to repopulate the world with people that followed his ideas and beliefs.

He additionally cast out heretics and other people he deemed weak by throwing them to the undead with little hesitation and even participated in bullying his students before and during the apocalypse.

Kirio Karasuma was one of the main antagonists in Kamichama Karin, as he sought to take the power of Karin and Kazune’s rings for himself. Even though it was later revealed that he did this for the sake of preserving Himeka Karasuma’s life, to the sympathy of some fans. Other fans pointed out that he could have just worked with Karin and Kazune so both groups could preserve the lives of both Himekas instead of fighting over the rings.

Kirio’s body was later hijacked by his father Kirihiko Karasuma in the finale, much to the annoyance of fans.

4 The Homunculi Had Evil Plans In Mind (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

When the Homunculi members first appeared in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, all of the viewers realized that they would be evil by scheming behind the scenes to manipulate political and social events, if not outright confronting the main heroes themselves. This included King Bradley himself being a Homunculus, as well as his son to further sway events in the group’s favor.

Even if Buggy looked like a literal clown, fans knew that he was certainly threatening in One Piece. His usage of the Buggy Balls, which were virtually cannonballs, showed that he was willing to kill anyone and everything possible to reach his goals. He even pressured Nami to shoot Luffy with these same cannonballs to prove her loyalty to Buggy (as Nami previously turned Luffy over to Buggy to ally with the latter).

Thankfully for Luffy, Nami betrayed Buggy at the time and worked with Luffy and Zoro to shoot Buggy and his crew with their cannonballs.

2 Malty Accused The Protagonist Of Heinous Crimes He Did Not Commit (Rising Of The Shield Hero)

Malty S. Melromarc from Rising Of The Shield Hero initially fooled the protagonist at the time, but viewers quickly realized that she was up to no good. She stole all of Naofumi’s possessions and accused him of assaulting her. This forced Naofumi to fight back against her to prove his innocence and redeem himself despite never doing those crimes he was accused of.

Thankfully for Naofumi and the viewers, Malty was later punished for these actions when her lies were exposed, being disowned and stripped of her royal title and position.

1 Mana Was Evil From The Beginning (Princess Connect! Re: Dive)

Mana Senri Princess Connect! Re: Dive

In the anime adaptation of the gacha game Princess Connect! Re: Dive, Mana was immediately presented as the main antagonist. Even though she spent much of her time in the shadows and rarely showed up in front of the main cast in person, viewers knew that she had to be up to no good. It also did not help that she deployed catgirl Karyl as a spy with the eventual task of killing Pecorine for her.

Though Karyl switched sides to fully work with Pecorine and the Gourmet Guild, thus foiling Mana’s plans, viewers suspect that Mana will try other methods to get rid of Pecorine in the upcoming second season.
