Soken trained Uryu in the ways of the Quincy tribe, and it was clear that the boy meant everything to him. Tragically, Soken died when Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi captured and experimented on him, prompting Uryu to seek revenge.

Chiyo of the Sand Village is Sasori’s grandmother, but she hasn’t seen her puppet-loving grandson in many years. She grew bitter over time, but her heart changed when she met Naruto and Sakura and saw the hope and courage that these young shinobi embodied. It’s clearly not too late to believe in the future once again.
Chiyo graciously helped Sakura take on her deadly grandson, and she later gave her life to bring back Gaara of the Sand from the dead. Chiyo lived a long and fulfilling life, and she died helping to heal the world – a fine legacy to leave behind.
8 Tohru Honda’s Grandfather Accepts Everyone For Who They Are (Fruits Basket)
Little of Tohru Honda’s paternal grandfather is known, not even his name, but his personality and role in the Honda family are clear. He was the only Honda who didn’t oppose Katsuya’s choice to marry the ex-delinquent Kyoko, and he is quite fond of his son’s daughter, Tohru Honda.
Mr. Honda isn’t always in a position to help Tohru, but he does what he can for her, and he provides emotional support anytime Tohru needs it. Given the loss of her parents and the Honda family’s general dislike of Kyoko, Tohru could really use a grandparent like this.
7 Katara Became A Wise & Doting Grandmother (The Legend Of Korra)
In the original Avatar series, Katara was a hot-blooded but kind youth, and in The Legend of Korra, she has become a patient, wise grandmother and a major figure in the Southern Water Tribe. She is very fond of her three grown children and her handful of rambunctious Airbender grandchildren. She even sensed that Rohan would be an Airbender before he was born.
Katara is also a grandmotherly figure to the new Avatar, Korra, the successor to her late husband. Korra always knows that she can turn to Katara for help, whether it’s her body or her heart that needs healing. Katara has aged quite well overall.
6 Lord Sullivan Is Iruma’s Doting Foster Grandfather (Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun!)
No biological children or grandchildren of Lord Sullivan’s are ever seen, but he does long for a grandchild, and he obtained one in the form of Iruma Suzuki. He struck a deal with Iruma’s sleazy parents and had Iruma sign a contract to become his foster grandson. Sullivan is overjoyed, and Iruma is slowly getting used to this new arrangement.
Despite his lofty rank and demon status, Sullivan is a cheery and doting grandfather to Iruma, giving the boy anything and everything he wants while sharing heartfelt scenes with him, such as seeing Iruma off on his first day of school at Babyls. Sullivan is easily among the most sentimental demons out there.
5 Ito Nishimiya Helped Raise Her Granddaughters (A Silent Voice)
The manga A Silent Voice was adapted into an anime movie, and it packs a serious emotional punch. That includes the minor character Ito Nishimiya, the loving grandmother of Shoko Nishimiya. Unlike her bitter daughter, Ito is easygoing and sees the best in everyone, no matter what.
Tragically, Ito passed away during the events of A Silent Voice, but not before her role as a sweet grandmother was made abundantly clear, and no doubt her two granddaughters miss her dearly. She left a big impact on them both.

There are a few strikes against Joseph Joestar the hero, mainly his infidelity toward his wife, Suzie Q, leading to Josuke Higashikata’s birth in 1983. Still, Joseph is a good person when it counts, and he was ready to risk his life to save his daughter Holly from DIO’s wrath in 1987.
Joseph’s courage and resolve were inspiring, and he also did his best to guide and support his grouchy grandson, Jotaro Kujo, during their cross-continental adventure to face DIO. In 1999, he met his son Josuke, and the two of them resolved their differences and had a few adventures of their own.
3 Wasuke Itadori Imparted Heartfelt Last Words To Yuji (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Little is seen of the elderly Wasuke Itadori, but it became clear that his grandson Yuji meant everything to him. In Jujutsu Kaisen‘s first episode, Wasuke is seen in the hospital as Yuji visits him, and Wasuke urges the boy to look out for his friends and avoid dying alone.
Poor Wasuke was doomed to die practically alone in the world, but he made sure that Yuji had a very different experience. He trusts his grandson to become a strong hero and save others, and Wasuke will understand if Yuji can only save one person out of many. In Wasuke’s eyes, there was no way his grandson would ever disappoint him.

The old but tough Makarov Dreyar is not only a family man with a son and grandson, but he is also a grandfatherly figure to every member of the Fairy Tail guild. With his wisdom, patience, strength, and conviction, he inspired every last Fairy Tail wizard to look up to him, and he nearly gave his life for their sake in the battle against the Spriggan 12.
Makarov and his grandson Laxus were once close until they became estranged, and Laxus was later exiled from the guild. The two of them made up later, and they bravely fought on the same team against their guild’s many enemies. Nothing will come between them again.
1 Hiruzen Sarutobi Died A Hero (Naruto)
As a leader and Naruto’s protector, Hiruzen Sarutobi had his faults, and many fans argue that he could have done far more to support the orphan Naruto Uzumaki. He also paid rather little attention to his grandson, Konohamaru, prompting the boy to become a troublemaker and attention-seeker, just like Naruto.
Hiruzen bravely stood up to his old student Orochimaru when the Leaf Village was attacked, and he gave his life to rob Orochimaru of his jutsu. Hiruzen died a hero, and despite everything that occurred, he didn’t hate Orochimaru. In fact, as the caring teacher he had always been, Hiruzen hoped to see Orochimaru in the next life.
