Deathstroke has grown in popularity ever since his debut. Starting as an enemy of the Teen Titans, Deathstroke has branched out, becoming not only an anti-hero but also fighting all kinds of heroes. In recent years, he’s basically become a Batman villain and, in a way, this makes sense. Both men have similar ways of doing things and fights between them are quite entertaining.
The problem is, there are actually plenty other heroes out there who would make a better match for Deathstroke. Batman and Deathstroke is fun but kind of a shallow fight; it’s basically a prizefight between champions. There are others who actually have reasons to fight him.
10 Beast Boy And Deathstroke Make An Interesting Mix
One of Deathstroke’s most important stories is “The Judas Contract” and that story is the reason why he and Beast Boy would make such great arch-enemies. Beast Boy cared about Terra a lot and even when he realized that she was always evil, he still had feelings for her. Deathstroke was the impetus behind the whole situation and the two have clashed multiple times over the years.
While Beast Boy is pretty happy-go-lucky, Deathstroke is someone that affects him in a different way than anyone else. They’ve been battling for years and Beast Boy has a bit of a personal grudge against him. Showcasing their rivalry could be the key to making Beast Boy a great solo hero.
9 Wally West And Deathstroke Never Got Much Of A Chance To Battle
When Deathstroke attacked the Teen Titans, Wally West had quit the team because of his powers weakening, but he was with the team when Grant Wilson died. This was the entire impetus for Deathstroke attacking the group, and the one person he was never able to get revenge on was Wally. As shown in Identity Crisis, Deathstroke knows how to beat Wally, and seeing them fight would be great.
Wally often battles enemies who aren’t as fast as him, and Deathstroke is known for outthinking foes who are more powerful than him. The two make an interesting mix and seeing how Deathstroke would deal with Wally’s overwhelming power would be fun.
8 Harley Quinn Needs A New Arch-Enemy
Harley Quinn keeps growing in popularity, but one thing she’s missing is a rogues gallery. Sure, there’s the Joker and other Gotham baddies, but she needs a foe to call her own, someone she’s never fought before. Enter Deathstroke. Harley is tough and skilled, but Deathstroke is the perfect challenge for her.
Deathstroke is stronger, faster, and more skilled than Harley, which is the perfect set-up for a rivalry. Harley would have to think outside the box against Deathstroke. He would be a better test for her than any other villain out there, and her insanity would challenge Deathstroke in ways he’s rarely been challenged.
7 Tim Drake Has Battled Deathstroke Before And Should Again
Tim Drake is one of the most skilled Robins, and he and Deathstroke have clashed several times when Drake was leading the Teen Titans. This makes their rivalry extremely personal. Deathstroke was never able to beat Drake as leader of the Teen Titans, and if there’s anyone who knows how to hold a grudge, it’s Slade Wilson.
Since the debut of Damian Wayne, Tim has gone on the back burner, and a great way for him to be brought back to prominence would be a battle against Deathstroke. Both are popular, and put together they’re dynamite.
6 Raven Is A Great Challenge For Deathstroke
Raven was around for the incident that killed Grant Wilson, so Deathstroke has a lot of hate for her. While she’s light years more powerful than him, that sort of thing has never daunted Deathstroke in the past. Raven is another character who is fairly popular but needs a villain to define her adventures, and Deathstroke would be perfect for that.
On top of that, it would be fun for readers to see how Deathstroke would deal with Raven’s powers. Deathstroke figuring out how to beat his enemies is one of the best parts about the character, making this a great match-up.
5 Donna Troy’s Grudge Against Deathstroke Is Long Standing
Donna Troy and Deathstroke have been fighting each other for a long time, and as far as the Teen Titans go she’s probably the best match for him. She’s way stronger than he is but other than that, the fight between the two would be pretty straightforward and fair. Donna has changed a lot over the years, but there are few villains out there who have had the effect on her life as Deathstroke.
Like many members of the Teen Titans, Donna has grown up but doesn’t have the popularity of peers like Dick Grayson or Wally West. Making Deathstroke her arch-enemy could give her the chance she needs to finally get solo stardom.
4 Starfire Versus Deathstroke Would Be Very Entertaining
Starfire is one of the most powerful members of the Teen Titans ever. One thing that a lot of people forget about with her is her warrior spirit and that’s something that she and Deathstroke have in common. While her powers should put her way out of Deathstroke’s league, he’s been shown to be more than able to deal with Superman before, so Starfire shouldn’t be too hard for him. Deathstroke still has an unresolved grudge with Starfire and seeing the two clash with each other, without the Teen Titans around, would be a great conflict.
3 Cyborg And Deathstroke Need More Time Against Each Other
Cyborg reached his height in the Teen Titans, and while he’s been through a lot of changes, for many fans Deathstroke is the most popular villain he’s fought. With the shifting sands of DC continuity, it’s hard to know if Cyborg was ever a Titan when they fought Deathstroke, but it would still be great to see these two clash again regardless.
Cyborg has been given a few chances in solo books and maybe making Deathstroke into his main enemy would help out. Cyborg is more popular than DC seems to realize and pitting him against a high-profile villain makes a ton of sense.
2 Nightwing And Deathstroke Make Perfect Foes
Batman versus Deathstroke is cool, but any grudge between the two is contrived. Nightwing and Deathstroke have a true rivalry. The two have fought before, both solo and in team situations, so making them rivals would be so much better than Batman and Deathstroke. The two have been foes for as long as Deathstroke has been in DC and Nightwing has grown immensely since his time with the Titans.
Nightwing has been in some brutal battles and seeing him clash with Deathstroke more just makes perfect sense. They’ve been battling for ages, there’s a personal grudge there, and Nightwing is just more interesting than Batman in general.
1 Green Arrow And Deathstroke Make Better Enemies Than Most People Think
Green Arrow and Batman have fought a lot of the same villains, which makes sense if one understands the Golden Age origins of Green Arrow and how he was basically Batman with a Robin Hood motif. Around the time of Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis, a rivalry between Green Arrow and Deathstroke was built up and it was really, really entertaining.
Batman always wins and everyone knows it. Green Arrow is a different type of hero. His wins are much harder for him and seeing him go up against Deathstroke, a villain who is basically evil Batman with superhuman physical attributes, makes for a more interesting battle than Batman and Deathstroke. Plus, Green Arrow could use more big-name villains.
