Demon Slayer is a hit shonen series starring Tanjiro Kamado the protagonist, a kind boy turned monster hunter who’s on a quest to restore his sister Nezuko’s humanity. Along the way, Tanjiro met many new powerful allies and enemies alike, from Lower Moons to the elite Hashira. They are all deadly fighters.
So far, the characters of the Demon Slayer anime, in particular, can be roughly ranked according to not only their brute strength or tactical skills but also their sheer speed. Some Demon Slayer anime characters can run and jump faster than the eye can see, and even the slower characters are still much quicker than the average civilian.
10 Tanjiro Kamado Relies On Smell More Than Speed Or Strength
Tanjiro himself may rank among the slower main characters of Demon Slayer, but that doesn’t mean he’s a total slowpoke or a sitting duck in combat. Tanjiro has adequate speed and agility to fight a variety of demonic enemies, from Susamaru to Enmu and beyond.
Tanjiro’s speed is only mediocre compared to most other major characters, but he has an advantage they don’t – his nose. Tanjiro can use scent to find the thread connecting him to his foe and strike at the exact right moment. With that advantage, he doesn’t even need exceptional speed.
9 Nezuko Kamado Likes To Run & Kick
Nezuko Kamado was turned into a demon against her will, and while she would much rather regain her humanity, she can at least make use of her demonic gifts in the meantime. Nezuko sometimes fights alongside her brother, and despite not receiving any training, she is an adequate fighter.
In combat, Nezuko tends to run and kick, and she can even take a demon’s head off with her fierce kicks. She can also use her claws to slash at her foes and use fire-based moves, which inspired Tanjiro to do the same. She is fairly quick, but other Demon Slayer characters are definitely faster than her.
8 Inosuke Hashibira Fights On Instinct
Inosuke Hashibira was raised by animals in the mountain wilderness, and he learned well from them. He has razor-sharp instincts and heightened senses, which make him highly effective in ways his friend and foes alike don’t expect. He also has two serrated Nichirin swords to slash any foe to bits.
Inosuke isn’t Demon Slayer‘s fastest character, but he’s still got some moves, and his agility and reflexes are quite impressive. The Hashira and Upper Moons can all outrun him, but ordinary demons are usually too slow to handle Inosuke’s aggressive, wild movements, and they pay the price for it.
7 Kanao Tsuyuri Is Quiet But Talented
Kanao Tsuyuri may be a quiet and gentle girl, but she is far from defenseless. In fact, she is among the quickest characters in the series so far, and she is fully trained as a demon slayer. Kanao is a member of the butterfly estate, and she has hair clips and elite skills to match.
Kanao generously helped train Tanjiro and his friends after the battle against Rui the spider demon, and she was much quicker than Tanjiro was prepared for. For a time, she stayed one pace ahead of Tanjiro and practically made a fool of him. Tanjiro later caught up, though.
6 Zenitsu Agatsuma Is Fast Under Certain Conditions
Zenitsu Agatsuma is widely known for his cowardly persona and his constant complaints, but he’s not total deadweight during his and Tanjiro’s adventures. Under the right circumstances, Zenitsu is actually a lightning-fast swordsman, and that’s no coincidence.
True to his thunder breathing element, Zenitsu can move like a flash of lightning, and he first did this while fighting for his life in Kyogai’s maze-like estate. Zenitsu has used his ultra-speed a few more times since then, and not even Tanjiro can match it.
5 Giyu Tomioka Is Quick Like Rushing Water
So far in the Demon Slayer anime, the fastest characters are all either Upper Moon demons or members of the elite Hashira corps, and that includes the water Hashira, a certain Giyu Tomioka. Giyu isn’t the quickest Hashira, but he’s certainly faster than rookies like Tanjiro and Inosuke.
Giyu can move in the blink of an eye and deliver deadly sword strikes to take down a demon before that demon even knows what’s happening. Giyu also demonstrated this speed early in the series against the Kamados, but fortunately, he stood down and allowed Nezuko to live.
4 Kyojuro Rengoku Is Like A Blur
The flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, is even faster than Giyu, and he demonstrated this during the Mugen Train story arc while fighting a variety of demons. Kyojuro is a bold, speedy, and aggressive fighter, true to his elemental breathing, and he shows no mercy to demons whatsoever.
Kyojuro got serious when he faced off against the Upper Moon Three, Akaza, and moved quicker than Tanjiro could even see. In Tanjiro’s eyes, Kyojuro was just a series of flaming blurs, and only an Upper Moon would stand a chance against such a technique.
3 Akaza Can Keep Up With Most Hashira
Akaza was a major antagonist of the Mugen Train story arc, and he might appear again later to challenge Tanjiro Kamado. Tanjiro had better be ready because Akaza is more powerful than any foe he has yet faced, with the speed to match. Akaza can also regenerate his flesh at astonishing speed.
Akaza kept pace with Kyojuro Rengoku during their battle, which is saying a lot, and unlike humans, Akaza has limitless stamina. Not only is he fast, but he also won’t slow down by getting fatigued in battle, so he can eventually outpace a speedy human opponent who grows tired in their duel. That’s a major advantage.
2 Shinobu Kocho Relies On Speed & Poison To Win
Despite her laid-back persona, Shinobu Kocho is actually an intense and focused demon slayer who doesn’t tolerate anyone’s nonsense for long. Although Shinobu is petite and not very strong, she is incredibly fast, and no demon can keep track of her movements in battle.
Shinobu can use her superior speed to avoid enemy attacks, then get into position to deliver a deadly counterattack with her poisoned Nichirin blade and seal the deal. Even an Upper Moon demon had better watch out.
1 Tengen Uzui Makes Sound Look Slow
Tengen Uzui may or may not be the most powerful Hashira overall, but he is certainly the quickest of them, and even the Upper Moons would be hard-pressed to match his movements in battle. When Tengen gets serious, he can seemingly teleport, arriving at his destination in a flash.
No one can keep up with an elite swordsman like Tengen, and that allows him to slash apart his foes with impunity with his twin blades. He is the star of the new Entertainment District story arc, and his odds of survival look good. No way can the demon Daki keep up with this warrior.
