10 Cookbooks Based On Video Games That Produce Fun & Tasty Treats

[ad_1]

A lot of video games out there have food for the player to find. Some are there just for aesthetics and some give minor stat buffs. Some games even have an entire cooking mechanic, which often takes the place of potions and such. It stands to reason that due to the foods in games being around, that sometimes a player wants to make it in the real world.

Some of these games have realized that they have some potential to inspire some good real-life food and they have released official cookbooks for these popular games. So while waiting for the new Final Fantasy XIV cookbook to come out later this year, consider checking out some other gaming cookbooks.

10 World Of Warcraft: New Flavors Of Azeroth Official Cookbook

World Of Warcraft New Flavors Of Azeroth Official Cookbook

World of Warcraft just added another book to its official cookbook collection with New Flavors of Azeroth. They know full well that their MMORPG is full of gorgeous, delicious-looking food and they are all set and ready to capitalize upon that.

Most of the recipes in the book actually are just as delicious as they are to look at. Not everything is strictly in-game, but instead, some take heavy inspiration from the game to make something that looks like it would exist or uses real-world ingredients in place of the fantastical.

9 Street Fighter: The Official Street Food Cookbook

Street Fighter The Official Street Food Cookbook

Street Fighter is a classic fighting game franchise that is iconic in the industry. It’s not much of a logical leap to link street fighting with street food either, so it’s not weird that they also have an official cookbook.

This book is full of different foods that could be found on a street vendor’s cart somewhere, making for a lot of tasty treats that are generally pretty easy to put together. There’s a good number of meaty foods in here though, in case that’s a turn-off for someone.

8 The Elder Scrolls Official Cookbook

The Elder Scrolls Official Cookbook

There’s not a lot of point to eating the food in The Elder Scrolls games unless there is an immersive mod installed like iNeed. They’re mostly clutter, put there to add immersion and to make the games’ worlds appear lived-in.

Sometimes there are some buffs, or foods can be used as minor healing when desperate enough, but they generally just take up unnecessary space in a player’s pouch. So instead of being weighed down by the ten thousand sweet rolls stolen just to get a reaction out of the guards, now there’s a reason to actually eat one.

7 Destiny: The Official Cookbook

Destiny The Official Cookbook

Need some delicious food that isn’t comprised of polygons? This is one heck of a book. The food inside is insanely delicious, and there’s a reason it has gotten a lot of good reviews.

The directions are easy to follow and the food comes out well. The best part is half the time it’s hard to know that the recipes came from Destiny in inspiration and could be easily passed off as just some good food at the neighborhood cookout. Though they will get some good reactions from some mega fans, so they make for good food to have around a lot of gaming buddies.

6 Heroes’ Feast: The Official D&D Cookbook

Heroes' Feast The Official D&D Cookbook

No, this one is not full of Doritos, Cheetos, and Mountain Dew. It also doesn’t include phone numbers to the local pizza place. Instead, this Dungeons & Dragons cookbook is full of interesting food ideas that can really amp up a gaming session.

Make the adventuring party into a real party with some of these delicious meals and have a good time with something that’s a little more interesting than some stale potato chips and over-carbonated soda. It’s especially great if the group doesn’t get to meet often, so it can really be something special.

5 The Pokémon Cookbook

The Pokemon Cookbook

These are cute but need a little more skill than it pretends. However, with a bit of effort, there are some really cute Pokémon-inspired recipes that can be used for a party, a special occasion, or just because someone is willing to spend the day experimenting in the kitchen.

For the most part, the recipes are pretty standard and are there just to give ideas on how to mold them into Pokémon shapes. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some goodies in here that would make for some fun party food, though.

4 Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook And Travel Guide

Tomb Raider The Official Cookbook And Travel Guide

Instead of just a cookbook, Tomb Raider decided they also could fill the travel guide niche. What other series could honestly do that better? A lot of the recipes are meant to be made outside in a camping setting or on a grill instead of a kitchen, which is pretty niche in and of itself.

Then there are all of these blurbs about different areas that exist out there in the world, so it’s just a good book in general. So flip open a page and get to experiencing the world, even if that’s just in the backyard with a couple of beers thrown in.

3 Overwatch: The Official Cookbook

Overwatch The Official Cookbook

Ever go through Overwatch and wonder about what people eat? Ever see the food about and just wish for the ability to reach through the screen and devour it? Well, apparently, someone official had the same experience and therefore a book spawned from it.

There is a range of recipes in this book going from simple to more complex, and sure some of them need a bit of skill, but they really are worth looking at. There’s a reason this book has a lot of acclaim, and it’s because the recipes inside are actually just really good.

2 Fallout :The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook

Fallout The Vault Dweller's Official Cookbook

In true Fallout fashion, even The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook comes in a fancy, expensive gift box set. This one includes a blue and yellow apron with some fantastic pockets. It’s an absolute must-have for Fallout fans who also like to cook.

The recipes themselves are not super survivalist like might be expected, but it still has some fun and interesting ideas on things to use and how to go about doing things. Could make for some fun themed party food ideas though, so that’s a perk worth unlocking.

1 The Minecrafter’s Cookbook

The Minecrafter's Cookbook

While this one is technically unofficial, it is widely accepted as being so regardless. Which is honestly like most of the Minecraft books, so it’s not too much of a stretch.

For the most part, the recipes inside are pretty standard, just crafted into squares. It’s an excellent little thing with some fun ideas that make for some great party food ideas for big fans and kids, using a lot of materials that could be found in-game. Even if there’s nothing else touched inside of this book, pick up those cookies. They alone are worth it.
