Every great hero needs an equally compelling villain. Invincible rocketed to the top of the superhero heap due to the clever characterization of its lead character. However, without his excellent cast of rogues, Invincible would’ve fizzled out long before it reached its legendary status among independent comics.
Marvel’s Avengers, while filled with great heroes, has a significant villain problem. One of the key criticisms of the MCU is how weak their cast of villains can be. Mark Grayson is anything but Invincible, but his villains would make fantastic challenges for Marvel’s Avengers.
10 DA Sinclair Would Keep The Avengers On Their Toes
Avengers villains usually rely on their sheer physical might to combat the Earth’s mightiest heroes. Fans could probably name all of the scientifically inclined villains that bedevil the Avengers on one had. DA Sinclair could easily break this trend. Using his twisted brilliance, Sinclair can turn corpses and vagrants into his personal cyborg army, known as the Reanimen. Given that the Reanimen are strong enough to harm Invincible, it’s clear they would give any of the most powerful Avengers a rough go in a fight.
9 Conquest Would Bring The Fight To The Avengers
His name alone inspires fear in Invincible fans. Conquest was one of the most challenging villains Mark ever faced. Armed with the impossibly strong genetics of the Viltrumite race and years of battle prowess, Conquest was a vicious brute. Living up to the monstrous nature of his namesake, the Viltrumite empire dispatched Conquest to conquer planets that rebelled against the oppressive rule of Viltrum. If he were to cross the Avengers, it would undoubtedly be a team effort for the Avengers to put down Conquest.
8 The Lizard League Has The Man Power To Combat The Avengers
The Avengers find their strength in numbers. Even though most superhero team members are unreasonably powerful and adept at tackling villains on their own, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes gain their true power through the numbers game. In this regard, the Lizard League could give the group a run for their money. While many of their members are disposable henchmen, the Lizard League has a few strong members to oppose top Avengers. Also, as the Avengers deal with henchmen, the top brass could carry out their nefarious schemes.
7 Cecil Has Enough Tricks Up His Sleeve To Trouble The Avengers
Some of the best villains don’t need to confront the Avengers one on one. A handful of antagonists act as the calculating masterminds behind the scenes that employ heavy hitters to do their dirty work. Cecil is a character who loves to play puppet master.
Given an essentially unlimited budget by the government, Cecil uses his connections in the superhero world to secure the best tech and abilities to protect Earth. However, his shady tactics make him significantly more villainous than he intends to be.
6 Sequids Could Turn The Avengers Against Each Other In A Heartbeat
Divide and conquer is the oldest tactic in warfare. The Sequids are masters – albeit unintentionally – of splitting up superhero teams. Using their curious biology to commandeer the consciousness of their victims, the Sequids turn their targets into tendrils of their malicious hive mind. A single touch from a Sequid tentacle is enough to turn a friend into a foe unless adequately equipped for the threat. Unless Iron Man outfits the Avengers with armor, the Sequids are unstoppable. The Avengers would end up fighting each other.
5 Angstrom Levy Would Bring The Fury Of The Multiverse
In the MCU, characters are only now becoming aware of the multiverse. The prospect of an infinite number of parallel realities with potentially villainous variants of Avengers heroes is a frightening thought. If a character could weaponize the multiverse, they could quickly become a massive threat to the Earth’s mightiest heroes. Angstrom Levy is that threat. Using his argument brain to scan the multiverse for evil variants of heroes, Angstrom Levy can enlist an army of Thors, Hulks, and Iron Men to battle the Avengers.
4 Battle Beast Would Be Tough For The Avengers To Tame
Thanos was no cakewalk for the Avengers to overcome. Existing as a planetary conqueror bred for battle, Thanos exploited the Avenger’s weaknesses through his strength alone. Battle Beast comes from a similar cloth.
Battle Beast lives to find the best contenders and fight them for glory. The scary part is that he usually wins. In their first match-up, Battle Beast destroyed Invincible with little effort. If Viltrumites offer no resistance to Battle Beast, the Avengers would be easy prey and welcome notch on his belt.
3 Dinosaurus Has The Brains And Brawn To Battle The Avengers
Having both brains and brawn makes any villain a top-tier threat. Dinosaurus is as vicious in combat as ge is deadly in intellect. What makes Dinosaurus such a scary opponent is how reasonable his aims are. Whereas other villains fight for selfish ends, Dinosaurus has effective – but horrific – solutions to help save the planet. At one point, Dinosaurus bombed Las Vegas in a successful attempt to solve the energy crisis. The Avengers would have a tough time with the prehistoric villain and his brilliant, multi-layered master plans.
2 Tackling Thragg Would Cost The Lives Of Some Avengers
The Viltrumites are the biggest threat in Invincible. There are other villains that offer Mark opposition, but none expend as much energy to fight as the Viltrumites. As a warrior race, only the strongest member is allowed to rule the genocidal aliens. Thragg earned his spot on the throne through blood and will spill even more to keep it. As if his own power wasn’t enough, Thragg commands several other Viltrumites to act as his private guard. Thragg would definitely kill weaker Avengers in battle.
1 Robot Would Be Like Fighting An Evil Tony Stark And Ultron Combined
Even though he’s human, Tony Stark is one of the pillars of the Avengers. Iron Man can stand toe to toe with Thor and the Hulk in a physical altercation with his high-tech suit. Robot takes the power of technology to another level with his brilliantly designed battle armor. With power equivalent to Ultron, Robot isn’t just a singular threat. Using his impressive intellect, Robot can operate multiple suits at once. With each possessing the capabilities to fight Invincible, Robot is the ultimate Avengers level threat.
