10 Cartoon Villains More Popular Than The Heroes

[ad_1]

Many cartoons usually feature some sort of villain, as they create a conflict that the heroes of the stories need to solve. Sometimes, the heroes are completely overshadowed by the villains, despite the fact that the villains rarely win, if at all.

The best villains can be crass, have interesting motivations, have a soft side, or exhibit qualities that most tough, powerful villains wouldn’t have. They even add a comedic element to the series, making them even more fun to watch. Although fans may not really be rooting for the villains to win, they are often a joy to watch regardless.

10 The Powerpuff Girls: Mojo Jojo Is The Show’s Most Well-Known Villain

Mojo Jojo grins evilly

Mojo Jojo is the most iconic villain of the series, and even his name is ridiculously fun to say. He is a chimpanzee who gained his intelligence from the explosion that created the Powerpuff girls. Losing the attention of the Professor, he began plotting to destroy the Powerpuff Girls, making him a sympathetic villain.

He is usually a challenge to defeat, most famously creating the Rowdy Ruff Boys in a toilet, who proved to be physically stronger than the heroes.

9 Pokémon: Team Rocket Are Villains With Standards

Team Rocket poses on a boat

Team Rocket have been around for as long as Ash Ketchum and Pikachu have, and it’s not difficult to see why. The trio try to steal Pokémon, but they always end up getting foiled in one way or another, usually by the Pikachu that they try so hard to catch.

Jessie, James, and Meowth work well together, having distinct personalities and a love for (unsuccessful) crime that makes them so fun to watch. Despite their villainous goals, they do not tolerate people who are even eviler than they are, having no problems with interfering with other villains, as long as Giovanni never finds out.

8 Futurama: Bender Bending Rodríguez Is Rude But Lovable

Bender sits at the table

Bender is one of the show’s protagonists, but he is a criminal. He will swindle anyone at any given opportunity and is so evil that he has been to Robot Hell multiple times. He always has some clever one-liner to say, and he has a tendency to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

What makes him so likable is the fact that despite his flaws, he does have a soft spot for his friends, and will do something kind every so often.

7 Batman The Animated Series: Have The Best Portrayals Of The Joker And Harley Quinn

The Joker from the animated series, portrayed by Mark Hamill, is considered by many to be the best portrayal of the character. The character’s maniacal laughs are chilling, and all of his antics, despite being meticulously planned and often dark, are usually meant to amuse him.

His sidekick, Harley Quinn, was created for the series, creating a character that is still very much relevant and popular today.

6 Family Guy: Stewie Griffin Is An Evil Baby Genius

Stewie crosses his arms and glares at Rupert

Stewie Griffin has the intelligence of a full-grown adult, making various contraptions that range from weapons of destruction to time machines. In the show’s early days, he was portrayed as a downright villain. His single-minded goal was to destroy Lois in order to get revenge for being trapped in the womb for so long.

What made this so hilarious was the fact that he never succeeded, and the fact that his parents never noticed his evil intentions. When Lois saw the grisly pictures he drew of them, her first concern was that his father wasn’t in any of them.

5 South Park: Eric Cartman Is A Main Character But Is No Hero

Eric gives an angry speech in front of a mic

Eric Cartman is the monster that his mother created. Thanks to her rarely scolding him and giving him everyone he could ever ask for, Eric has grown to become someone who feels that he can get away with almost everything.

He likes to push everyone to their limit with pranks and insults, using language that many adults wouldn’t use. In some episodes, he happily plays the role of the villain, and his antics are often so ridiculous that he gains all the attention he could ever want.

4 Avatar The Last Airbender: Azula Was Somehow More Terrifying Than Her Father

Azula smirks

Azula, being raised by her father, was shaped by her father to be narcissistic, powerful, and cruel. All she valued was power and would stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Despite not being the Fire Lord, she and her allies posed a great threat to the heroes. She took much pleasure from being evil, endlessly chasing down the Avatar and giving him little time to rest.

Her cocky attitude and snarky one-liners made her a likable villain, and eventually, she became a tragic one who broke down after she was abandoned by the people she trusted the most.

3 SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton Is A Microscopic Villain Bent On Taking Over The World

Plankton laughs evilly

Many of the characters in modern-day SpongeBob Squarepants are being criticized as lacking the same amount of depth that they used to have. Even the title character is not free from this criticism, as he often acts more childish than ever before. Plankton is largely unchanged, still focusing and failing to obtain the Krabby Patty secret formula.

His plans are always vastly entertaining, and it is always funny to see someone so small be so evil.

2 Fairly Odd Parents!: Denzel Crocker Is The Only Adult Who Believes In Fairies

Denzel gleefully dances with Failing Grades

Denzel Crocker is the most entertaining character to watch, as his mere reaction to the words Fairy God Parents is enough to garner a laugh. He even takes a great amount of joy giving his students failing grades, finding new and creatives ways to hand out “F”s. Despite the fact that he is right in believing that fairies exist, no one seems to ever take him seriously.

His schemes to capture one usually end in great misfortune for him. He also has an interesting backstory, as Cosmo and Wanda were formerly his Fairy God Parents before Timmy ruined it for him.

1 Disenchantment: Queen Dagmar’s Motives Are Still Unclear, And She Always Tricks The Heroes

Dagmar reunites with Bean

Queen Dagmar was the former queen of Dreamland, and the mother of Tiabeanie, the show’s main protagonist. The first season was a slow burn, as Bean tried to find her way in life, often getting drunk and making all the wrong decisions. She missed her mother, whom she had accidentally turned into stone. She resurrected her mother, only to discover that Dagmar was actually evil after the queen turned the people of Dreamland into stone.

Her intentions and the prophecy she continuously referred to are still kept in the dark, but despite knowing that the queen is actually evil, Bean is repeatedly falling for her tricks.
