Anime has been a constant in many people’s lives, contributing to a sense of attachment between viewers and characters. The Big Three 2000s anime, Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece, have introduced countless characters from their successful franchises.

The staggering amount of episodes in One Piece is enough to turn away any new anime fan. Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved and long-lived series. Luffy, also known as “Straw Hat,” shares a birthday with another anime protagonist: Gon Freecss. Gon is the main protagonist for most episodes in Hunter x Hunter and the son of the critically acclaimed Hunter, Ging Freecss. Both Luffy and Gon share the same birthday of May 5.

9 Rock Lee Was Born On November 27th, The Same Day As Yui Hirasawa (Naruto & K-On!)

Rock Lee is an eccentric taijutsu master in the Naruto franchise. He’s the star student of his grown-up look-alike, Might Guy, along with his teammates, Tenten and Neji. Rock Lee shares a birthday with the lead guitarist and vocalist of the Light Music Club, Yui Hirasawa. They both were born on November 27. Yui is the main protagonist from K-On!, an anime based on the mid-2000s manga series Kakifly, and involves a group of school-aged girls forming a rock band.

Goku is one of the most recognizable anime characters of all time. He is the famed protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise since its publication in 1984. Goku shares an April 16 birthday with another anime protagonist from a slightly different genre: Jinta Yadomi from Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. Jinta is the only person who can see and communicate with their deceased friend, Menma. Menma died from an unfortunate accident in her childhood and wishes to reunite her friends from beyond the grave.

Might Guy is the free-spirited sensei of Team Guy, which consists of Rock Lee, Neji, and Tenten in the Naruto anime. He has a dynamic personality and is close friends with fellow sensei, Kakashi Hatake.

6 Asta & Yugi Muto’s Grandfather Were Both Born On October 4th (Black Clover & Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Asta is the main protagonist of Black Clover, who was raised by the church in Hage after being orphaned at a young age. While he is short in stature, he is actually quite strong and is a Third Class Junior Magic Knight. He also carries around a five-leaf clover grimoire. Solomon Muto, also known as Sugoroku Muto in the Japanese version, is the grandfather of Yugi Muto. He’s a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. Both Sugoroku and Asta were born on October 4.


5 Mikasa & Takehito Share A February 10th Birthday & Stoic Expressions (Attack On Titan & Haikyuu!!)

Mikasa Ackermann lost both of her parents at a young age. She became a childhood friend of Eren Jaeger and an exceptionally skilled soldier in the Attack on Titan series. After her time in the 104th Training Corps, she later joins the Survey Corps in order to protect Eren. Takehito Sasaya is a third-year wing spiker at Date Tech High from the Haikyuu!! anime. Both Mikasa and Takehito tend to display stone-faced expressions. In addition to that trait, both characters were born on February 10.


4 Kurapika &  Jonathan Joestar Share An April 4th Birthday (Hunter X Hunter & JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

Kurapika is the last survivor of the Kurta Clan and a Blacklist Hunter from the Hunter x Hunter series. Like many anime characters, he wants revenge for the treatment his clan received in the past, and to retrieve the Scarlet Eyes. Jonathan Joestar is the main protagonist in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood. Jonathan is also the biological father of Giorno Giovanna, the protagonist of Vento Aureo, the fifth part of the JoJo’s franchise.  Both Kurapika and Jonathan share a birthday of April 4.




3 Young Emma Was Born On August 22nd, The Same As Tenya (The Promised Neverland & My Hero Academia)

Emma is one of the youngest main protagonists in anime history. She’s only 11 years old and is incredibly optimistic despite being a former member of Grace Field House, an “orphanage” that sent children off to be killed and eaten.

Tenya Iida is one of Izuku Midoriya’s closest friends at U.A. High School in My Hero Academia. Tenya possesses the Engine Quirk, which gives him super speed. He also looks up to his brother, Tensei, who met an unfortunate fate. Both Emma and Tenya share the same birthday of August 22.


2 Daiki & Miku Hatsune Are Both Born On August 31st (Kuroko’s Basketball & VOCALOID)

Daiki Aomine is an ace player and power forward at Touhou Academy in the anime Kuroko’s Basketball. One of his biggest rivals is Kagami, and Daiki serves as the main antagonist until the first round of the Winter Cup. Miku Hatsune is a VOCALOID software created by Crypton Future Media who has previously performed live concerts in the form of animated projections. While not a current anime character, it was rumored back in February 2021 that Miku will receive her own series sometime. Both her and Daiki share a birthday of August 31.

Eita Semi is a third-year setter at Shiratorizawa Academy in the Haikyuu!! anime. He and Shirabu are intense rivals as fellow setters. In addition to playing volleyball, he is also a musician in a band. Azusa Nakano is one of the five main characters in the K-On! anime series. She serves as the second guitarist for the band Houkago Tea Time, and later the main guitarist and vocalist of Wakaba Girls. Both Azusa and Eita were born on the same day, November 11.
